Here’s the skinny. 775,529, circa 1910, scarce early style Grade 950L, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, Model Three, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, double roller, Patent Motor barrel, Breguet hairspring, 4-post, two-screw crown wheel, raised gold jewel settings, full gold train, all-gold balance screws, capped escapement jewels, bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set movement. This fine early 950L – the highest-grade watch of its day made with the finest materials and craftsmanship – is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The watch is a smooth wind, starts right up almost immediately with no coaxing, and lever sets as designed. The watch holds time within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of careful hand regulating. As for appearance this collectible 950L movement is looking terrific, with nice, bright and clean, 100% oxide-free winding wheels, shiny bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the fine golden engraving paint still intact, gorgeous all-gold train to admire under those sparkling clean plates, also spotless correct smallest regulator needle and whip, super clean looking inside, and reeling and rocking holding railroad time!! Dial : Hamilton’s famous and versatile early 4-post Montgomery model, double sunk enamel with the black Arabic numerals and the Montgomery Patented red five-minute markers and black minute-markers. This dial in almost perfect shape, with no sign of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains or scratches other than one 5mm long faint hairline just inside the set-lever you’ll have to hunt to spot it!! Hands : Near mint condition original finish (not doctored-up aftermarket) fancy blue matching spade style in mint condition with 100% of the original factory blue finish intact – super fine hands and correct for this early model! Case : near perfect condition Keystone J. Boss signed original Hamilton Railroad Model Case Model #5, 16 size, open face, 14K smooth white gold fill, slot right, screw-back-and-bezel style! Here’s the KJB Case Model #5 in highest-quality 14K WGF and in just about as well-preserved condition as it gets, with the fine smooth back framed by the fine milling work, thick, sturdy neck, high-profile, easy-to-reach crown, and the railroader’s preferred large and sturdy squared-off matching bow!! This classic and traditional railroad-dedicated case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct and matching crown’s fluting is still exceptionally deep and crisp for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely. The bow is likewise its correct matching square original, shows zero brass or damage, and swings loose. The crystal is a high-domed plastic model and super clean and clear. The case does show excrutiatingly minimal wear, including nothing other than the most superficial and unavoidable exterior scratching, zero marrings, zero doodlings, zero brass anywhere detectable, and no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions other than one lonely little ding on the back! I’ve owned this fine 950 for many enjoyable years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please and delight when carried!! Beautiful enamel porcelain face, Glashütte Stripes-movement delicately machined, screwed gold chatons, held in by two or three (blued) screws, specifically used by A Lange & Sohne, set in an skeleton pocket watch case. As for the case there is crown/winder, time set with a lever is on the side. At the top 12 o’clock position, there is a faux or dummy crown/ bale. The dummy crown/bale looks gold filled. The case body looks like gold, tested glass back metal edge, failed 18k, passed 14k and 10k test, gold plated? Case is not marked. Beautiful watch and case, keeps good time. Marked on front, A. 1895 Antique Elgin 14K Solid Yellow Gold Double Hunter Case Pocket Watch. 47.42 grams total weight with movement. 20.82 grams gold case, bezel, crystal only. Please note the crystal broke when we were removing the movement to weigh the case. The watch will need a crystal, but these are inexpensive to replace and any pocket watch repair can install one for you. Case is stamped C. MFG CO 3 Stars US ASSAY. The Shugart Pocket Watch Manual Shows this stamp is a Solid Gold Case, picture included. Third Row on the right hand side. The case is also stamped by the movement 585, the numeric notation for 14K gold. Case was professionally tested to confirm gold content and is guaranteed Solid 14K Gold. Movement Serial # 6223946. 15 Jewel Movement Running well and keeps accurate time. The case is ornate with detailing on front, back and sides. The front shows a house with background scenery, see pictures. There are 3 initials lightly monogrammed in script on one side of the case. ANTIQUE 18KT GOLD J. VERY IMPORTANT ITEM INFORMATION, PLEASE READ! French it has stunning Niello Enamel on front and back covers. The face has a beautiful Damascene design of a Village Scene. On front there is a fancily engraved Lion with Shield surrounded by flowers and scrolls, the Shield would be perfect for Monogramming. This is accented by Black Niello Enamel. On back are more scrolls and flowers in an Urn with Black Niello Enamel. It is marked “18K” on the ball at the top and inside the case “K 18″, it’s heavy, it weighs 69.4 grams or 2.44 ounces, of course some of that weight is the inner works. Circa 1830 it does have some issues, glass is missing over the face as is the 6, there is a spot of missing enamel on the Lion and we don’t have the key so we have no idea if it works You will also receive a black ribbon pocketwatch chain.
