S-24550, circa 1955, scarce Grade 950B, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, Model Six, Grade 950B, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 6 positions, double roller, cupped gold jewel settings, all-gold balance screws, center bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set movement. This dependable late-model 950B – the culmination of Hamilton’s high-grade watch making expertise – is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The watch is a smooth wind, starts right up with a single flick of the wrist, and lever sets as designed. The watch holds time within 30 seconds per week face-up after careful hand regulating. As for appearance this collectible 950B movement is looking spot-on, with nice, bright and clean, 100% tarnish-free winding wheels, shiny bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the fine bronze engraving paint still intact, spotless correct regulator needle and whip, super clean looking inside, and reeling and rocking holding railroad time!! Dial : Hamilton’s late-model and correct bold black Deco Arabic with the popular Canadian 13-24-hour chapter double sunk melamine model. This dial in perfect shape, with no sign of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains, lining, lifting, buckling or scratches!!! Hands : Near mint condition original finish (not doctored-up aftermarket) black NOS new-old stock spade hour and pointer minute hands with pretty much 100% of the original factory black lacquer finish intact – super fine hands and correct for this model! Case : near perfect condition Hamilton Case Model #A, the correct case for the 950B. It features the smooth back framed by the beaded Deco-era concentric circles, the thick, sturdy neck, large and wind-able crown, and the railroader’s preferred sturdy arching bow!! This classic and traditional Hamilton case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct and matching crown’s fluting is super deep and crisp for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely. The bow is likewise its correct matching original, shows zero brass or damage, and holds tight to positions. The crystal is a thick beveled glass model that has been newly installed and is brand new. The case does show exceptionally minimal wear, including nothing other than the most superficial and unavoidable exterior scratching, zero marrings, zero doodlings, zero brass anywhere detectable, and no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions! I’ve owned this fine 950B for many enjoyable years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please and delight!! It has been taken apart, completely cleaned, and set together. It has the original chain too. The glass is extra thick , it is the original one. I believe, it has never been replaced. It was cleaned and oiled by master watchmaker. It works well and keeps great time. It is bright looking. Dial is glass enameled single sunk. It has a hairline at 32 minute mark, over all looks great. It is breath taking. Case empty weigh 23.8dwt(37Gr). Total weight of this watch is 45dwt(70Gr). Case is simply in mint condition. Covers open and close perfectly, hinges are very strong and bow is tight. Hands are gorgeous and in perfect condition, so is the glass crystal.
