This 1916 Hamilton 12S Grade 910 swing out 25 year case pocket watch is a vintage timepiece with a mechanical manual movement and 17 jewels. This gold case pocket watch features a porcelain white dial with a 12-hour dial, making it a unique and personalized piece. Made in the United States by Hamilton, this pocket watch is a classic timepiece perfect for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage watches. Front & back clear glass crystals, crown/winder, integrated stem, and bow. Historical Significance & Era. Estimated Period of Production: Circa 1905 – 1930. To market these intricate high-grade mechanisms (such as the popular 12S dress pocket watch movements) without risking environmental damage, these official double-glass utility cases were issued. Traveling salesmen and retail horologists relied on these snap-on display cases to showcase the magnificent damaskeening, fine finishing, and mechanical motion directly to prospective buyers. They kept the delicate gears immune to dust and fingertips without forcing the jeweler to repeatedly screw and unscrew retail precious metal cases. 18s Hamilton 941 21 jewel watch in a. Watch starts right up and runs fine. I wound it and it has been keeping time the last 20 plus hours. The case looks great and the lift spring pops cover right open. The only issue is the front cover opens past the 90 degree mark although the hinge is still tight and covers close properly.
