The Band: Original antique black grosgrain ribbon/lace style military strap. The “Battle Scar” Defect. We tell it straight up here. The fabric material of the ribbon band is splitting/fraying in one spot from pure age. However, ALL of the original antique gold-filled mounting clips, geometric loops, and buckle hardware are completely present, intact, and ready for an upgrade or easy fabric re-threading! Look, we aren’t going to pull the wool over your eyes-most century-old watches found in old barn chests look like they were trampled by a herd of angry mountain goats. This Ruefli piece is an absolute show-goat on the inside and outside. The dial setup has an incredible amount of early military charisma. Back during the Great War, officers wore these exact types of wristlets in the trenches because fumbling through a coat for a pocket watch was a great way to get targeted by an enemy patrol. The “Red 12″ was designed specifically so soldiers could instantly orient the dial in low-light environments. The 10 jewel heart inside is exceptionally clean, looking like it was locked inside a vault away from our clumsy farmhands. Don’t let this jaw-dropping slice of global history trot away into someone else’s pasture.

It has been keeping time but i have only ever wound it a bit. So the length of time it keeps time is unknown. I have tested with short winds and it keeps time up to 3 hours doing that. Shows wear, worn off finish to the case. The movement is sitting loosely inside of the case. Bit of damage to the glass face in a small area on the left side. Serial movement # 1823598. Case width is 54 mm.

Watch appears to be in pristine condition with little to any signs of use. Currently not running and has not been tested or had repairs. ELGIN POCKET WATCH 30504320 SUPREME I. W. C. Co. Gold Filled Case Winds / Ticks. Size: 2 1/8″ x 1 5/8″ x 3/8. Condition: Winds and ticks. Keeping time so far but I have not had this very long so long term accuracy is unknown. The gold plating is good. No damage to the dial. There is an inscription on back. It reads: Love Dennis 73.

This Waltham is set in a C. Co Gold Filled case. The chain is labeled 12k Gold Filled. It appears to have been produce between 1897 and 1899. The movement works when wound. A few seconds winding and it’s been running for several days now, but I haven’t gauged how closely it actually keeps the time. The case features beautiful floral designs around the edge as well as surrounding a small box in the center on both the back and front. The central square on the front has the initials “CS” engraved in flowing script. The central square on the back features a scene that appears to show a house among trees with a lake and distant trees in the background. The details are sharp and there is very little wear on the outside for the age. Case Serial Number: 664558. Movement Serial Number: 7394119. Below is the data provided by the Pocket Watch Database. May 1897 – July 1899. Condition Notes: Works, but not tested for how well it keeps time. There is a name Carry Shafer? Engraved under the first layer of the back cover. There are initials engraved on the front cover/lid. There are minor scuffs. There is a small dent on the back near the hinge and a little scratch near the central square on the back. The movement, face, and glass look really clean.

Watch winds and runs. When setting time have to be careful as it can be set but feels like there’s some disconnect.
