Offered is a scarce KW Elgin Frances Rubie pocket watch. There are supposed to be 3 runs of 1000 of these, but I believe none have been found from the third run. This one has an early Boss patent gold-filled case, the only brass showing is the bow. The front cover opens to slightly beyond 90 degrees. The movement has bright gilding – nicer than most, but has a broken balance staff so is not running. Don’t miss this scarce watch. You are looking at a stunning antique Hampden 3/0 size “Molly Stark” 7 jewel 14 karat yellow solid gold hunter case pocket watch with a 27 yellow gold filled pocket watch chain included. The watch is stem wound and lever set. The beautiful hand engraved case measures 32 millimeters across at the widest without the post. The front cover has an open heart in the center of the engraving and the back cover has a fully engraved one (see pictures). The front cover opens slowly when the crown is depressed. The movement is marked, Molly Stark, Canton O, U. 1340546, dating the watch to around 1899, most likely a model I. The inside of the back cover is marked, Warranted 14K, 86755. The inside of the dust cover is marked, 86755. The single sunk Roman numeral dial is marked, Hampden, and has a slight hairline crack from the center bit to the seconds track (seen with magnification). The crystal is glass.
