A spectacular Hamilton railroad watch, early 992 model. 16 size, open face, lever set with a beautiful and rarely seen enamel Montgomery dial. This 992 is unique for a few reasons: 1 The front plate has 4 insertion holes and needs a 4 footed Hamilton dial. I have taken pictures of both front plate and dial to show the set up to advanced Hamilton RR watches collectors. 3 the gold bezel is uniquely artistic, quite beautiful , with deep & enchanting engravings. Total weight movement and case is 62.4 pennyweights but I doubt this piece will ever see gold melters The watch runs well & keeps good time. It has not been recently serviced. In summary a unique possibly one of a kind Hamilton 992 with original swing out solid gold case, 4 footed Montgomery dial & a front plate with 4 openings for those dial feet. 4 We appreciate our loyal customers. We enjoy their trust & will always try very hard to deserve & keep it. 5 Please view our other items for sale at “mdantiquesinc”. The outside of the case is marked Hamilton Watch – The Watch of Railroad Accuracy. The case is marked on the inside as well Hamilton Watches. Inside the case are 10 Hamilton display pocket watch cases. I did not clean anything or do anything to this case. Everything is exactly as I have found it. Each case has one bezel that is marked Hamilton. Four of the cases are missing crystals. All of the case except for one are missing bows. Three cases are missing stems and bows. A few of the cases have a bit of corrosion but it looks like it will clean off. There is a little bit of a gap on the inside of the case at the right hand side. Each spot for a case has a loose piece of velvet. The rest of the velvet is not loose it. I don’t know if the velvet was replaced at one time or that is just how it was made. Overall the outer case is in nice condition for its age. The locks on the front of the case are marked W&S Inc. The case measures approximately 15″x8.25″x1.25. Check out my other items. THANK YOU for considering our high grade late model Hamilton 950B 16 size 23 jewel 6 positions railroad-grade watch. Here are the details. S19393, circa 1953, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, adjusted to temperature and 6 positions, Model 6, Grade 950B, raised and cupped gold jewel settings, full gold train, all gold balance screws, bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set railroad-grade movement. By 1953 America had its RR watch building thing down pat, and here’s one of its finest examples!! This fine and highly collectible antique watch is in superlative working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and a strong, steady beat. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up with a single flick of the wrist, and lever sets as designed. The movement holds excellent time but has not been further regulated or adjusted. Appearance-wise this movement is looking terrific, with absolutely 100% spotless correct winding wheels, brilliantly bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the handsome Bronze engraving paint intact, spotless correct modern regulator needle and whip, super clean looking down inside, and ripping and running strong and true! Dial : Model 537 “Blindman Monty” style “Railway Special” double sunk enamel. This dial is in near mint condition. It is clean and mint all the way around except for one tiny little repaired edge chip at “26″ minutes. That’s totally it for damage that I can see with the loupe! Hands : Original finish (not doctored up aftermarket) RR-bold blue matching spade hour and pointer minute hands. These hands are in near mint condition, with 99.8% of their original finish still intact and totally correct for the 1950s 950B! Case :Signed original Hamilton Case Model #A apparently original to this movement. It’s a Keystone 10K smooth yellow gold fill, slot right, screw-back-and-bezel railroad case with the fancy beaded bezel and back! This case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct, matching original crown’s fluting is still deep and crisp for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely but does not extract, so only a lever-set movement will work inside. The bow is correct and matching, shows zero brass or damage, and swings loose. The crystal is a near brand-new thick beveled mineral glass model and clear as a bell. The case does show exceedingly minimal wear, including light, superficial scratching on an otherwise mirror-image back, zero marrings or doodlings, zero brass anywhere detectable, and absolutely positively no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions!! I’ve owned this fine timepiece for 20-odd years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please and delight!!
