Co. 17.79 stamp – the hallmark of the American Watch Company of Waltham, Massachusetts, one of the most prestigious American watchmakers of the 19th century. The patent date of April 17, 1879 references Ezra Fitch’s celebrated dust-proof case design, patented while Fitch was associated with Waltham. The case features a silver-toned nickel/silveroid exterior in good condition with light wear, and a warm gilt-washed interior back – a premium finishing detail common on quality American cases of this era.
