Waltham 16S 23J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Vanguard U&D indicator pocket watch #25896170, beautiful nickel bridge-style movement with raised gold jewel settings, gold center wheel and an elaborate concentric circle damascene pattern, double sunk (DS) porcelain enamel dial with bold boxcar style Arabic numbers, subsidiary power and seconds registers and is marked “Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewels”, the dial is free from hairlines or notable damage, however the Waltham markings are slightly faded, bold blue steel spade & whip style hands, Waltham-marked Keystone yellow gold filled (YGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with a distinctive engraving design of small spots filling the center of the case and surrounded by wavy and curvy lines with a floral detail at 6 o’clock and a fancy blank rectangular monogram shield at 12 o’clock, spot-style engraving design on the bezels, heavy hidden pendant and a fancy engraved bow, case is showing light even wear overall with a small bit of smoothing on the edge of the back cover along with a small bit of brass at the top of the fancy bow, measures approx. 51mm in diameter x 66mm in length x 15mm thick (crystal included). A very high grade triple signed Waltham from the 1920s in excellent+ condition throughout! Any rulers shown for scale give measurements in centimeters (with millimeter gradients), NOT inches. This is an excellent find for the Elgin collector! This Elgin 16 size 21 jewel BW Raymond pocket watch is the up and down indicator model and comes in the B. Raymond model yellow gold filled case! The lever-set movement is marked: Elgin Nat’l Watch Co. Raymond 21 Jewels 34574036 Adjusted 6 Positions. The wind indicator Montgomery dial is simply marked Elgin. The dial is in fair condition, there are some hairlines. The crystal has light scratches. The case has light scratches and some dents and dings. Initials on case back. Inside of the case back is marked: B. Raymond Model Case and Timed by Elgin National Watch Co. 10K Gold Filled Wadsworth Pat’d 2.21.28 E258092. The watch will currently wind/set, and will run when wound. You have to push down hard on the crown to engage the winding. The setting lever will pull out and allow you to set the watch, but won’t stay out on its own. We do not know the service history on this watch, and recommend it be serviced to keep running and keep time. We can not guarantee the time keeping on this watch. This is a rare Waltham 21 jewel 16 size Crescent Street wind indicator in a Nawco “Challenge” gold filled case complete with snap on dust cover. The case is in fine condition with no evidence of wear. The movement is very clean and in the traditional Waltham quality has beautiful damaskeening with gold screw down jewel settings. The double sunk porcelain dial has some damage at the seconds bit, but otherwise shows very nicely. The watch was recently cleaned and serviced, running great, and keeping good time. The wind indicator responds exactly as it should when winding. This version of wind indicator (Crescent Street) by Waltham is much more difficult to find than the typical Vanguards.
