It will run for a little when wound however, it will not stay running. Balance staff appears to be okay as there is no wobble in the balance. The movement is clean looking but the regulator and whip spring have light corrosion. It appears someone acid tested the inside cover and didnt neutralize the acid. Fumes have caused some corrosion that should be fairly easy to clean off. Also, the whip spring end looks to have snapped off. Porcelain Dial shows a hairline at the 1 position and I see no chips. Mineral Glass Crystal has very light scratches here and there. Gold Filled Case shows wear to the cover designs and light to moderate wear through to the gold plating on the covers edges and the frame of the case. The bow flops from side to side and does not hold position. Our inventory consists mainly of used items anywhere from 1 year old to 180 years old and usually have some type of mechanical motor or machine driving it. 16 size 21 jewel Adjusted 5 Positions railroad grade 655 Rockford Wind Indicator. When I put this one away years ago it had been cleaned and serviced, but nothing has been done to it for years. I wound it up a few turns and it started running with good motion. The indicator parts function properly. Note: I did not wind it up fully or check it for timeliness. In general, it’s a bad idea to run a Rockford indicator fully wind or very often since when the mainspring breaks (and they do) some of the indicator parts get broken with it. Sharp mvt with correct matching winding wheels. Super nice looking J. Boss 14K Gold-Filled case. Rare personalized dial is signed N. Was he a jeweler? I don’t know. The dial does have some cracking/hairlines (see near 11 o’clock, there is also a hairline that runs from the indicator bit towards 3 o’clock). This is the only personalized Rockford indicator dial that I’ve ever seen. If you’ve seen many others, then more power to you. Near Mint condition 16 size 23 Jewel Waltham Vanguard Wind Indicator pocket watch in an unbelievable Gold filled case. Outstanding mint condition White porcelain dial with bold black numbers and large Super brilliant Blue colored hands. The only flaw is a tiny flea nick near the lever, totally undistracting. Front and rear covers screw on and off flawlessly. This case also has an extra special rear dust cover to keep the movement super clean, that snaps on and off perfectly. The front glass crystal is near spotless. The movement is gleaming and super clean and in my opinion mint in condition. The Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewel movement serial number 19062815 dates to 1913. The 16 size model 1908 Rail Road Grade Double Roller adjusted to (5) Positions has unbelievably Brilliant Gold Jeweled settings. The movement also has beautiful demaskeening and spotless winding wheels with a Gold train and Lossier hairspring. The lever set Pocket watch, sets and runs outstanding with all pivots lightly oiled and the balance with beautiful super motion, which has been keeping outstanding time. The wind indicator works flawlessly, showing the power reserve. Note all of my pocket watches have been personally serviced and restored to there best working order according to there age and condition. The Bull Dog style case is amazing. The rear double case covers are both marked “Security 10 Karat Gold Filled Rail Road Model”. This case is minty and super solid with just moderate use and absolutely no brassing or wear thru to be found. The bow is nice and stiff. Rare Mint condition Wind Indicator solid and superb English made by Charles Bacon of 51 Gerrard Street Islington London 1893 silver cased lever fusee. Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (S) 1893 from London assay. Absolutely flawless mint condition white colored porcelain dial with beautiful matching Blue hands and large 60 second sub seconds ring and Rare up/down wind indicator ring, which functions beautiful. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with great hinges and a nice clear Crystal. Rear cover springs open perfectly with a dust cover with key hole access for winding and setting of the movement. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has super motion and the main spring is nice and strong. The movement is jeweled at the balance and escapement and is nice and clean with sharp blue screws and is regulated by a push arrow index on the balance. The watch measures approx. 51mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minuet within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are fusee type meant to keep time, not perfect time 123 years ago. Pocket Watch comes with a sharp looking key for winding and setting which fit perfectly. Note all of my pocket watches have been personally serviced and restored to there best working order according to there age and condition. Just a reminder, care must be taken when winding these old watches not to overwind. They are true museum pieces.
