The watch has the following marks on the mechanism 12747018 (movement serial number) AMERICAN WALTHAM, U. The serial number indicates that the model is 1897, estimated production date 1903. The coin silver case is produced by American Watch Case Company. This is the mark of American Watch Case Company. The antique Waltham pocket watch is as seen in the photos. The watch measures approx. 1.9 across in diameter. We didn’t polish silver leaving it to the next owner to decide whether polishing is required. We have a real nice antique 1887 Waltham fifteen jewels, eighteen size stem wind and set antique pocket watch with a heavy nickel case, recently restored and serviced and in excellent looking & running condition. The Appelton Tracy & Co. Model 1883, fifteen jewels, 18 size full plate movement has a safety pinion, a micro-metric Church regulator, an adjusted balance with solid gold meantime screws and a special alloy hairspring, an engraved balance arm and fancy lettering. It was professionally serviced recently and runs strong. The serial number is 3294186 which dates it to 1887. The uncommon single sunk porcelain 24 Hour dial with Roman Numerals is in excellent condition with some very faint hairlines. The deep blued steel hands are in excellent condition also. The Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Heavy nickel case has a threaded bezel & back and is in excellent condition with very light wear from use. It has a nice engraved scene on the back cover, no dents or monograms. The new old antique stock beveled edge glass crystal is in fine condition. The approximate case measurements are 2-1/4 inches in diameter (not including the bow & crown) x 3/4 inch thick including the crystal. The gold plated crown is in excellent condition, and the heavy nickel bow is tight and in fine condition. This is a real nice restored antique timepiece! Great for your every day carry, or would make a nice gift! (My pictures have some unavoidable shadows, reflections and dust spots that will be cleaned; the watch looks fine in person). Please note that a vintage watch may not be as accurate as a modern watch. Also, please realize that these early watches are not water resistant or waterproof. We are here after the sale and guarantee our restorations for 6 months. (We cannot guarantee a watch that has been rusted, tampered with or damaged).
