Higher grade Waltham 21 jewel adjusted 1903 antique 18 size railroad pocket watch in a great case with an engraved horse and rider in back. A beautiful 92 model movement featuring gold jewel settings, timing screws and a churches star regulator. Watch runs with good motion. Serial number 12673104, circa 1903 making this watch almost 125 years old. A very attractive bright damaskeened railroad movement. Dial is the original Waltham double sunk glass enamel railroad dial in very nice shape, but does have a faint hairline, nice hands and watch winds and sets correctly. Case is a very nice, massive nickel silver screw back and bezel case with a beveled glass crystal. Awsome engraving of a horse and rider on back. Case does have some light wear but is a very nice case and case opens and closes correctly. A very nice railroad watch. Please see pictures for more information and condition.

Offered for sale is an antique American Waltham Watch Co. Open-face pocket watch housed in its original Silveroid case. Features include: American Waltham Watch Co. Approximately 54.5 mm (18 Size) 17 Jewel Adjusted movement Movement Serial No. 17056802 Original Waltham signed dial Safety Pinion movement Guaranteed Silveroid Genuine case (not solid silver) The watch winds and is running at the time of listing. The minute hand and sub-seconds hand are missing. Timekeeping accuracy has not been tested over an extended period, and the service history is unknown. The movement appears complete and original, showing normal age-related spotting and patina. The original dial exhibits noticeable discoloration, staining, and wear consistent with its age. The Silveroid case shows scratches, scuffs, and general wear from normal use. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description and accurately represent the watch’s condition.

McCarthy emigrated from Ireland to Iowa at age seventeen, he could not have imagined the impact he would have on the industry. Starting out as a water boy, he quickly advanced to stone-cutter, to foreman, then became the superintendent. In 1897, he founded the McCarthy Stone Company in Davenport, IA and incorporated as McCarthy Improvement Company on Feb. Five generations later, his family-run company is still committed to industry advancement. Born in Ireland on 1857 to Daniel McCarthy and Bridget Marne. Patrick McCarthy married Rose Ann Donahue and had 1 child. He passed away on 2 May 1928 in Winona, Winona, Minnesota. McCarthy House in Davenport, Iowa is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This watch is over 100 years old and not sure when the last service was done and may still need to be professionally cleaned/serviced in order to keep time accurately. Made c1921 18 Size 17 Jewels Adjusted to Positions. Very Fine Sterling Dust Proof Case with Gold Train Inlays. Original Montgomery Dial has hairlines see pictures. Keeping time to a 20 Seconds per 24 hours carried in the pocket and resting for 7 hours dial up. No visible corrosion or tool marks on the movement. Regulator spring has discoloration. Sterling Silver Case retains lots of detail on the Gold Inlay. The watch was popular with intercity railway systems and was approved for such use. I have no history on the watch and made no attempt to regulate the watch for better accuracy. Please assume that the watch will benefit from being serviced. So, please don’t get mad or excited if you don’t receive your package quickly.
