LATE MODEL DEAD ACCURATE WALTHAM VANGUARD 16S 23J 6P WIND INDICATOR WALTHAM CASE

THANK YOU for considering our late-model, dead accurate pristine condition Waltham “Vanguard” 16 size 23 jewel Model 1908 Wind Indicator. Here’s the poop. 27,537,671, circa 1931, 16 size, open face, 23 jewels, adjusted to temperature and 6 positions, Model 1908, Grade Vanguard Wind Indicator, Lossier Inner Terminal hairspring, large raised gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, huge all-gold balance screws, bridge nickel plate, stem wind, lever set railroad-approved movement. Here’s a latter-day Vanguard W. Looking really sharp and keeping near perfect time! This fine antique watch is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and a strong, steady beat. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up on my 3rd wind with no jiggling, and lever sets as designed. The wind-indicator needle works great and is set at the right position. The movement holds time within 30 seconds per week face-up after years of careful and prolonged hand-regulating! Appearance-wise this movement is looking terrific, with 100% bright and spotless winding wheels, brilliantly bright and clean bridge nickel plates with all of the eye-catching gold engraving paint intact, spotless correct screw micrometer regulator, super pristine looking inside, and ripping and running keeping railroad time! Dial : Waltham’s correct all-black wind-indicator “Boxcar” Arabic numerals with heavy black minute marks. This fine dial is in super excellent condition. It is clean and fine all the way around except for a little hairline area to the upper left of the wind chapter between “11″ and “12, ” and one short hairline between the top of the sub-seconds chapter and the center hole. Otherwise mint condition all the way around! Hands : Original finish (not doctored up aftermarket) blue matching “whip” style hands. These hands are correct to this model, RR-bold blue design and enjoy near-complete blue finishing intact! Case : “Waltham” signed original Keystone J. Boss 10K smooth Deco style yellow gold fill, slot left only, screw-back-and-bezel railroad case! Here’s KJB’s 1930s Deco style railroad dedicated case, with the period popular triple concentric circling pattern, smooth, mirrory back, thick railroad neck, wide, wind-able crown, and matching Deco engraved bow!!! This correct and fine signed “Waltham” case is in fully serviceable condition. I have restored and detailed this case right down to the threads so you get the best looking and working case possible! The back and bezel thread up easily, screw on and off smoothly, and both seat tight. The correct original crown’s fluting is still super crisp and distinct for a tight, sure grip, and it turns freely but does not extract, so only a left-side lever-set e. Waltham railroad-grade movement will work inside. The bow is also correct and matching, shows zero brass or damage, and just barely swings loose, holding tight at its peripheries. The crystal is a brand-new “bull’s-eye” style beveled mineral glass model and has zero issues. The case does show remarkably minimal wear after presumed years of working on the railroad, including very faint and evenly distributed pocket wear, zero marrings or doodlings, zero brass, and no sign of any dents, dings, dimples or depressions other than one itty-bitty little ding toward the edge of the back!! I’ve owned this fine timepiece for 20-odd years and it has always run accurately and never failed to please and delight!!
