1881 Elgin National Watch Company 15 Jewels B. Adjusted Quick Train 18s Brass Movement Hand Wind and Lever Set low serial 885,685. Very Rare DISPLAY SALESMAN case with Belt Clip. Great Looking Elgin Watch Company. Dial without any hairlines. Raymond movement very clean for 141 year old watch! Thick Crystal Glasses with scratches typical for was being in use for years. Winds and sets as it should (Time set with lever located at 5:00 o’clock). Runs very well and keeps time, but was not timed for accuracy so some service may be needed. The Belt Clip is included. Benjamin Wright Raymond, the first president and one of the investors in the National Watch Company of Chicago. Raymond served as president from the organization of the company in 1864 until October 10, 1867. Elgin National Watch Company was founded in 1864, right as the civil war was coming to an end. VINTAGE POCKET WATCH Brand. ESTATE FIND, RUNS GOOD. 16 size, open face but SWISS MADE, probably for USA & Canadian market. Nice damaskeened finish on movement, shape reminds me of Longines. Movement looks clean, sets good, runs good. Service history unknown, not serviced y us, reliability & accuracy not guaranteed. Fortune 10K gold filled. Slight wear or brassing on sides, near cover & bezel. Front bezel screws good, as for the back cover. Measures about 50 mm wide, by 64 mm tall, including crown, by 15 mm thick. (Roughly 2″ wide by 2.5″ tall by 0.6 thick). This is an acrylic crystal that could be buffed. Tiny scratches as it is, but acceptable. 43.3 mm diameter. Has two dial repairs (chips painted white) 4 minutes & 45 minutes. All original three blue spade hands are there in very good condition. TOTAL WEIGHT OF WATCH: 87 grams. Nice Zenith size 12 pocket watch in a C. Co gold filled hunged case in very good condition. The rose gold dial is also in very good condition. The crystal glass has some scratches and would probably need to be changed. The 17 jewels movement is in good running condition.
