Early Verge Fusee pocket watch is quite stunning. All hinges are good and opens and closes as it should. The gilt paire cases have some of the gilding present and the outer case is covered in green shagreen. IN very good condition. Theouter case measures 48mm diameter. Inner case has the inscription I. Died Feb 10th 1837 aged 85. The very fine giltverge fusee movement is in great funning order and keeping good “verge time”. Pearson-London and is numbered. Protecting the steel balance a finely engraved and pierced piece wide footed balanced cock. The pierced and engraved decoration continues around the silver disc regulator. Early watch with baluster pillars. The white porcelian dial is in good condition with no apparent chips or cracks. Roman Numeral numbering and probably original hands. A very fine condition gilt brass cased, English made, pocket watch sized aneroid barometer with altimeter, measuring 5 cm wide and 2 cm thick and finely patinated as shown in the pictures. This is a beautifully made instrument, made in ca. 1875 with original morocco leather finished case, with some marks as shown. Mint watches in this condition, can only rise in value, given the limited supply of such items. You can also visit our shop at vintagewatchstore. Where there is a wide variety of fine antique & vintages watches. THE DIAL: 100% mint, the silver dial with black Arabic numerals and in bright condition. The dial with a fine blue steel spade hand. The bevelled crystal is also in excellent condition and retained securely. The dial with adjustment with respect to atmospheric pressure. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with a brass 3/4 baseplate and the aneroid barometer cleaned and in full working order. This instrument is much brighter and crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equipment. The barometer is in very good working order for its age. THE CASE: 80% mint, the gilded brass case measures an impressive 51 mm. The front snap on rotating cover is in excellent condition. The rear cover with an adjuster screw to compensate or adjust position of indicator hand. The case with wear to the gilding as shown. Gilt pocket watch, pair cases, verge – John Leroux, London, c1780. Gilt pair cases, 55 mm. A fine quality verge, by an excellent London maker. MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock, diamond endstone, polished steel escape wheel, four round pillars, and blued screws. A lever on the side of the dial at 8 oclock stops and restarts the movement. Signed and numbered (3483). This movement is in excellent condition, and is running well. DIAL : Beautiful, signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds. Matching arrowhead gold hands. All in excellent condition. INNER CASE : Yellow metal, with no makers mark. In very good condition throughout. The high dome bulls eye crystal is also fine. OUTER CASE : Yellow metal, again with no makers mark. The hinge, catch and catch button are all fine and the bezel snaps shut correctly. John Leroux (1750 1805) is listed at 8 Charing Cross, London. He is known for his development of the lever movement following Thomas Mudges invention of the escapement.
