Pocket Watch Case

My American buyers have pretty much disappeared but for what it is worth I add the following information. That is a US import policy that costs US buyers at the border it is not assigned in Canada or originating here. Hamilton railroad grade pocket watch, model 5, grade 992B, made in 1948,16 size, 21 jewel. Adjusted 6 positions, serial #C250947 in a Fortune Sturdy 10k GF made in Canada case, serial #4816949. The 24 hour dial has some slight hairlines as shown but otherwise it is in good shape. It has been disassembled, cleaned oiled at which point a loose roller jewel was found and re set properly. Once reassembled it winds, started on its own without coaxing and ticks. I attached its current operational status which is pretty good but would benefit from a proper adjustment. Subsequently it runs quite well now but would benefit from further adjustments to operate at its potential. It is not a quartz so accuracy is determined by adjusting it in all positions while accounting for isochronism and temperature. As a simple collection addition it is good to go. I have dozens of watches that I will be listing as I finish working on them. It is insured for the value, requires a signature and is at the buyers expense. Canada Post is operating business as usual. Generally if I get an order early in the day it goes out same day but may take 3 days, weekend/ holiday dependant.

Canadian Registered Gold Mark 2 door open face pocket watch case. It is 16 size and will fit a cylinder type Swiss watch. There is no crystal present, but the bezel is hinged onto the case. I don’t see any wear on it.

This Hamilton 950 B appears to be a Canadian loaner watch that was never used. The’Sturdy’ case is a Canadian model of a’Mainliner’ and the mint’Melamine’ dial also has Canadian markings. This watch runs, sets, and winds without a problem and keeps close to Railroad time. Pleases assume this watch needs serviced. Size : 16s, Open face, Railroad grade. C1917 Hamilton Grade 978 16 Size 17Jewels. Approved for electric interurban railways and street railway service. They were the official watches of the Conestoga Traction Company, which served Hamilton’s home town of Lancaster and surrounding communities. These railway types required a double-roller, steel escape wheel, adjustment to temperature and 3 positions, standards that were met by the grade 978. Total production of 978 movements was approximately 24,500. Finely Accurate Timekeeping see Testing. The case is a Keystone silverode lightly decorated in very good condition, no brassing or abuse. Lids screw on & off correctly. Crystal is scratch free. The gold train movement is clean with No discoloration and no service tool marks. The engine turning decoration pattern is all intact. Black letter filling is all there with very minor imperfections. All setting and winding functions work positively and correctly. Dial has a hairline and a minor chip at 5 o’clock. The watch was observed running for 24 hours in the dial and stem up positions. The watch gained 5 seconds during the 24 hour hours. Further regulation of the watch I’m sure would improve it’s accuracy even more. I have no history of the watch and assume that it’s due for professional serving and adjustments.
