Watch must have been made on a monday….. First model case was stamped model 29 and case number is off by 1. Case marked 8108048 while hang tag is maked 8108049. All case numbers match! There are only a few of these mismarked watches known to exist. Making this a rare and highly collectable piece. Crown is original crystal is glass threads are great no dings dents or brass. Movement has been serviced and watch keeps excellent time. Movement number 4962331 is stunning in appearance. Original box is in excellent condition and comes with hang tag andburlap bunn sachel. This fine antique watch is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc and strong, steady beat. The movement is a smooth wind, starts right up on my 3rd wind with no effort, and lever sets as designed. The movement holds excellent time but has not been further regulated or adjusted! Appearance-wise this movement is looking great, and I regret that these photos do not quite do it full justice. It has bright, spotlessly clean winding wheels, brilliantly bright and clean bridge nickel plates, all of the eye-catching red engraving paint intact, spotless correct elongated regulator needle and whip, super pristine looking down inside, and running strong and true! Dial : Illinois “Blindman” style, 16 size, open face, double sunk enamel, ultra bold black Arabic numerals with surrounding “arrows-in” black five-minute-markers dial! This dial is in perfect condition, with nary a sign of any hairlines, chips, cracks, chaffing, stains or scratches!! Hands : Illinois 16 size, factory original (not doctored-up after-market) plum colored matching “whip” design. This fine set of hands are in excellent condition, entirely unbent and undamaged, with darn near 100% of the factory-original plum coloring still intact! Case : Star model 10K warm-toned rose gold fill, pendant set and slot right, screw-back-and-bezel model! This case is in fully serviceable condition. Beautiful solid and clean English made by William Reeves, Birmingham Serial no. 1541 silver cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (t) 1817 Birmingham assay. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with big bold clear numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with just a faint spider line and only one small edge repair near the 3. Sharp matching Gold colored hands. Sharp near spotless high domed bulls eye crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge has unique and ornate scroll work as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with blue screws and is regulated by a pointed arrow adjusted by a blue disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 56mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 minute within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 199 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. Gondolos stratagem in Brazil Patek Philippe was one of the first watchmaking firms to enjoy business relations with the United States, dating from 1851, when it signed an exclusive agreement with Tiffany & Co. The founders letters, carefully preserved in Patek Philippes archives, are a fascinating record of the perils to which the traveller was exposed at that time. The firm had been present in Latin America since the 1870s, but sales in this market really took off towards the end of the nineteenth century, when business relations began with distributors Gondolo & Labouriau, in Rio de Janeiro. Carlos Gondolo and his partner, Paulo Labouriau, had devised an ingenious sales method. This consisted of a buyers club for 180 watch enthusiasts. The first week, the members paid ten dollars a week and then drew lots, with the winner acquiring a Patek Philippe. The timepiece in question was the celebrated Chronometro Gondolo, a calibre specially created for Gondolo and found in no other Patek Philippe timepiece.
