17j Gr79 “SENATE” Double Stock GF CaseGreat Dial. Running well, balance wheel is running true, the movement has not been serviced. The double sunk glass finished Radial roman numeral Dial is absolutely gorgeous and it’s in perfect condition. The substanisal Elgin Giant 10k Double Stock Gold Filled case shows even wear, no brass evident, no dents, the bezel and back cover screw on and off with ease, the crown and bow are in extra fine condition. The case looks to be original to the movement, it measures 54mm in diameter. The hands are color matched and are in excellent condition, the glass crystal is in very fine condition, it does have one small chip towards the center of the crystal, it’s really not that bad, smaller than the size of a grain of sand. The Jewelry Store owner was a great watchmaker and had been in business since 1959. Over the years he had several contracts with local Railroad Unions and Kept the local railroad workers in good timepieces. He had a lot of good railroad watches and this is one of them! Brand: Hamilton Watch Co. Model: NEW OLD STOCK Unworn Unused Hamilton 992B Railroad approved pocket watch. Here is some additional information I found pertaining to this movement. Adjusted # of Positions. 22.3, 38.0, 57.1. Case Composition: Hamilton Stainless Steel (railroad case model 15). Running Condition: This watch runs obviously, however the oil in it is 51 years old, so I would expect to get it serviced just in order to get that old oil out and the new oil in. Case size not including bow or crown: 50.3mm in diameter. Comes with tissue paper and blue box. I might not have it, because I expect them to sell rather quickly. The other has a slightly different dial And… NO (darn it) they are not consecutive serial numbers. The jeweler told me he ordered several when he found out Hamilton was going to no longer make them. Being a 1970 model confirms as I think that was the last year they were made or right around there. The service history of this watch is unknown to me unless I state otherwise. Therefore you should expect to service this watch if you are a responsible collector. Often times these watches have been forgotten in a jewelers desk or in a back room for 30 plus years. I like to save them from that demise and get them back into the hands of collectors. It doesn’t take very long for old gummy oil to stop a movement from running (many times just a week or so) or even worse if the oil is dried out it might not take too long for the watch to grind itself up inside so please understand I can only tell you how the watch is performing here. Heuer Chronograph Pocket Watch. Made by Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG. Weight: 2.8 oz. Distance top to bottom (including Bow): 64 mm. Thickness (including crystal): 11 mm. No Original Box or Papers. Includes Cloth Heuer Carrying Case (see pic 12). Stem Wind & Set. Size: 18 lignes (16s American). All Writings & Markings: Black. All Hands: Dark Blue. Center Sweep Seconds for Chronograph. Material: Stainless Steel, with some parts Gold-Plated. Bezel: Snap On/Off [seems gold-plated]. Caseback & Dust Cover: Hinged. Set Time: Pull crown up and turn clockwise. Case – Good condition. What appears to be gold plating on the Bezel is fading a bit and even more so on the side of the case. This flaw is really hard to capture with pictures, but it stands out… There are some tiny scratches near the place one opens the Caseback (see Pic 4). My watchmaker had to do this because we could not get the Caseback open to take pictures. It was shut so tight! … There are some very light scratches and discoloration on the outer case back and dust cover (see Pics 7 & 10). But the inner Caseback is near perfect (see Pic 11). Crystal – Very Good condition. With magnification one can see a few black specs, but otherwise in excellent condition. Dial – Excellent condition. I did not see the need to snap open the Bezel, as one can see the dial is in near mint condition! Crown & Bow – Very Good condition. It seems like both the Bow were hardly used over the years, because they are excellent cosmetic condition. The crown works flawlessly. Hands – Very Good condition. Even with magnification one can see very few flaws in the paint. Judging by the condition of the movement and the lack of marks on the inner Caseback, it seems to me that the movement was never serviced in its life! … I have tested it for a few days and it runs about 40 seconds fast per 24 hours. The one time that I nearly wound it all the way, the movement stopped. And I had to shake the watch repeatedly to get it to run again. So, clearly, I would not recommend winding it to full strength! There is plenty of evidence to suggest that this pocket watch was very lightly used over the years and spent most of that time in a drawer or safe. Trattasi di un orologio da tasca degli anni’30, in puro stile Decò, della Dubied, con un ottimo movimento Cronometro, interamente in oro massiccio 18k, a savonette con 3 casse, ASSOLUTAMENTE NUOVO MAI USATO (c’è una leggera piccola schiacciatura sulla destra della cassa interna di protezione), viene da una cassetta di sicurezza dove ha riposato con qualche compagno per circa 80 anni, ben funzionante e perfettamente usabile, è stato necessario solamente una pulizia del vecchio olio ed una leggera nuova lubrificazione. Ll movimento, dorato, è meccanico a carica manuale, funziona benissimo ed è abbastanza preciso. Un orologio da tasca in condizioni di nuovo, un vero e proprio resto di magazzino di ottant’anni fa, in oro massiccio 18k, è credo difficile da reperire sul mercato, ed è una buona opportunità per un bel regalo a chi desideri, quotidianamente o saltuariamente, usare un orologio da tasca che sia piatto, affidabile e preciso. Garantisco si tratti di un prodotto originale d’epoca al 100% e che sia assolutamente inusato. Il diametro della cassa è di 48.7mm ca, il peso è di 60 grammi, per cui ritengo ci possano essere circa 30/35 grammi d’oro.
