Description: 1920s International Watch Co. 900 Coin Silver Probus High Grade Pocket Watch in fancy open face case. Movement serial number #875451. Case serial number #896471. Case features IWC mark, Swiss Bear Hallmarks and German half-moon and crown hallmark, indicating that this Swiss made watch and case was sent to Germany after production. The crown mark was given to both German made silver and silver coming into Germany, so it is unknown if this was marked in advance of export or upon import. Watch is missing regulator spring. Condition: Good condition, ticking, balance is free, movement winds well and hands set well. Hands and dial in good condition with only minor loss of color on hands and light scratching to dial, particularly on sunk second dial. Case is good as well with very minimal wear. Some denting to the bow and some minor tarnishing in cervices of decorative edge. After being set and wound, the watch ran continuously and accurately for over 18 hours despite not having regulator spring. Unless otherwise noted, watches have not been tested for accuracy and are not tested for more than a few minutes. We test the condition of each watch movement by winding it, setting the hands, and observing if it is ticking or not. Offered is a fine example of a Hamilton “Railway Special”, size 16s Model 6 Railroad Grade pocket watch circa 1942-43. It has the 950B movement, 23 jewels, is adjusted to six positions and is in excellent condition with the exception of the dial which has some minor damage. There is a light hairline crack at the 9 position, another from the center up to the 11 position, between the 4 and 5 and very small nicks at the upper left center; these can be seen in my pictures. The crystal is clean and scratch free and the 10k gold filled case is in excellent condition with no brassing and only very minor light scratches on the back of the case. The case has the rare bar over crown feature. This watch has been well maintained and is running strong and keeping good time.
