Movement has large rose gold jewel setting with gold balance weight screws. Dial is original glass enameled double sunk. It is in perfect condition, no chips or hairlines what so ever. Plumb color steel hands are also in great shape. Crystal has some scratches on it. Case is yellow gold filled with some light pocket wear. Over all in great shape. Presented is a nice example of the Hamilton Railroad grade 992B in its original Model 2 case, with its original double sunk dial and great running high grade movement. The lever set open face movement is a 16′s with 21 jewels, featuring nice bright nickle straight lined damaskeened plates with black lettering, Elinvar Balance with great motion, and gold jewel settings. It was cleaned just a couple of weeks ago and runs great. It is marked Hamilton Watch Co. USA 992B 21 Jewels Adj. And 6 Positions and bears the serial number C409677. The movement is clean, the balance has great motion and other than a couple of specks there are no issues I can see. The very Model 2 case looks great with a semi tight bow and is cosmetically in very nice condition but does have some light waves on the back that I can’t depict in the images. The bezels screw off just fine and it is marked on the bottom body “W 10K Gold Filled” and on the inside “Wadsworth 10K Gold Filled”. The original Montgomery double sunk enamel dial is in very nice condition with no issues that I can find other that a touch of bezel rash around the edge and is signed “Hamilton Railway Special” in block. Very nice original black steel hands. Nice original glass crystal. Is for an extremely rare and highly collectible pair cased gilt verge fusee pocket watch with 18K solid yellow gold fully hallmarked case dated 1749. This is a complete all original set! The watch runs occasionally if set in the right position. For example, I have it here on my desk wound and opened up and set at an angle and it’s runnin g fine. If I close it up it will eventuall y stop. It just needs a simple cleaning to put it back in excellent running condition, something easily done by an early watch repairman! Included is it’s original gold plated bronze Chateliane with decorated octagonal top, six dangling chains including two decorative tassled chains at each side and three screw type watch swivels; two with keys and the double center chain for the watch as seen in the photographs. The Chateliane remains in excellent aged condition. The watch itself is in a gorgeous fully hallmarked and damage-free 18K solid yellow gold case. Hallmarked for maker “RP” in old English script, London touchmarks for 1749 and 18K solid gold. The watch case has also been professionally tested and guaranteed 18K solid gold. The watch is offered in “sometimes running” condition. When I obtained it several months ago it ran slowly but regularly. Now it will only run if you hold it in a certain position or put pressure on the wining pin. It needs only a simple cleaning to put it back in proper running condition. Nothing is broken in the fusee chain movement and it remains sparkling clean to the eye! The watch ret ai ns what appears to be it’s original domed glass crystal and engraved 18K gold bow. The porcelain dial features Roman numerals and beetle & poker hands. The porcelain dial needs to be refreshed. It has hairline cracks to the delicate porcelain along with chips around the button release at the bottom as seen in the photographs. All other areas of the watch are excellent. The gorgeous gilt fusee movement is signed. ” with serial number ” 213. It features a pierced and elegantly floral engraved balance cock & foot with an engraved North Wind face on the pierced balance as you can see in the detailed photographs. This watch was obtained from the descendant of the original owner and has always been in the same family here in southern Maine! This incredible verge fusee. Pocket watch is complete with it’s original matching gold plated bronze pair case with button clasp and decorated with a repousse image of two figures, one a soldier pledging allegiance to the other seated figure. An amazing provenance that has traveled with this watch since it’s making in London in 1 749! The watch diameter is 40mm and is 24mm thick. The gilt vergee fusee movement is stunning.
