Elgin 14K Solid Yellow Gold, Mechanical Pocket Watch, Hunter Case, Running, 1897. This is a beautiful, solid 14K yellow gold, running Elgin pocket watch. The movement is mechanical wind, 7j, circa 1897. The movement’s serial number is 6633975. The Pocket Watch Database gives further information. The watch features a hunter case with very ornate details of swirls and stars. The case is 39mm wide. The case is in nice condition, with some minor scratches and abrasions apparent, consistent with age. The front of the case is engraved. The watch winds well and keeps accurate time. The dial has a hairline crack and is dirty in a few spots, but is still attractive, please see the pictures. More details in the condition description above. Perrenoud which we believe is Swiss in origin. This watch was probably made around the late 1800s. This watch features a 15 jewels key wind movement with multiple bridges. The dust cover is marked detached Lever as well as the name of the maker. The case is a full hunter case with dust cover, it measures 35mm wide, 51mm bottom to bow and it weighs 34.6 grams total. The watch was wound with a key and was working but not times. Such antique time pieces should be regularly inspected & serviced if put into regular use in order not to strain the movement and parts. 1900 antique Louis Grisel 15 jewel lever-set Swiss pocket watch with 14K yellow gold double hunter case with guilloche/engraved exterior, along with a small gold-filled fleur de lis pin. The watch is approx. 31mm (1.2) across not including the crown, and the total weight is about 27.1g. It appears to have a monogram of CG on one side but I’m not sure if that is right. Condition: Does not appear to run though it did not too long ago. Gold case has some small dents e. Photo #7 and scratches but nothing obvious. The hinge on the back side of the case is a little bent but still functional; it just does not open and close as smoothly as it should. The gold layer is worn off the back side of the G. Lever setting mechanism works fine and I have done it a few times just using my thumbnail. Please see photo gallery.
