Waltham Vanguard Model 1899 16 Size Exhibition Display Case Pocket Watch ca 1907. This antique Waltham Vanguard model 1899, 16 size, open face pocket watch has a base metal case measuring approximately 51mm in diameter x 2 3/4 inches long including bow. The “salesman” exhibition back display case is in overall good condiiton with minimal wear for it’s age. The white enamel montgomery dial has large black Arabic numerals, a red and black minute track, blue spade/whip hands, a double sunk seconds register at six and is marked “Waltham”. The dial has a hairline near 12 and three with chipping near the register, as pictured. The crystal is in great condition. The movement is stamped Vanguard – Waltham, Mass. 19 Jewels – Adjusted 5 Positions – 16145874. All screws and jewels appear to be in great condition. Stem wind, lever set. This watch is running. Offered for sale is an antique Waltham Vanguard (USA) Model 1899 open-faced railroad grade pocket watch, circa 1903. This is a 16-size watch, and measures approximately 52.5mm (2-1/8) diameter. This watch features a yellow gold filled screw-bezel swing out case, a 23-jewel adjusted stem-wind lever-set movement, and a double-sunk porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and blue steel spade hands. The case is in good condition, showing signs of normal pocket carry and some visible brassing on the case bottom. The dial is in good condition, showing a few minor hairline cracks and two chips near the 4 o’clock position. The movement runs and keeps excellent time.
