1900 antique Louis Grisel 15 jewel lever-set Swiss pocket watch with 14K yellow gold double hunter case with guilloche/engraved exterior, along with a small gold-filled fleur de lis pin. The watch is approx. 31mm (1.2) across not including the crown, and the total weight is about 27.1g. It appears to have a monogram of CG on one side but I’m not sure if that is right. Condition: Does not appear to run though it did not too long ago. Gold case has some small dents e. Photo #7 and scratches but nothing obvious. The hinge on the back side of the case is a little bent but still functional; it just does not open and close as smoothly as it should. The gold layer is worn off the back side of the G. Lever setting mechanism works fine and I have done it a few times just using my thumbnail. Please see photo gallery. This was my grandfather’s Waltham “Seaside” pocket watch with double hunter case with guilloche/engraved exterior. The serial number 4399604 yields a date of approx. 1890 when I look it up at the Pocket Watch Database. The case tests as 14K gold though it does not appear to be marked. You can see the test results in the last photo. I scratched it pretty well from the edge of the tab where one would expect the most wear to be. Also there are no signs of brass peeking through as I would expect for gold fill but I have not done any deeper, more destructive testing. There is what might be a 14 scrawled on the inner layer of the case (2nd to last photo, toward the lower left edge). The watch is approx. 35mm (1.4) across not including the crown, and the total weight is about 40.4g. The watch is not in running condition. The cases are presumed gold filled or gold plated; although a few have lost almost all the plate on the outside and. Appear as just brass. Ten of the cases have marks that I recognize as gold filled (such as’WARRANTED, 20 YEARS’). These 10 cases have a gross weight of 255 grams. The other cases have markings like an Indian head, dear head, etc. That I do not know what they stand for. The total gross weight of ALL the cases is 730 grams. Two of the hunter case are designed for key wind movements. I measured the inside diameter of what I thought was about the smallest to the largest case and got. 1.1″ to 1.76″; presumed approximately 3/0 to 18 size for American watches. Please note that some of the cases are MISSING the bezel / crystal / stem / sleeve / bow and are dirty.
