Up for consideration is a nice Antique 1887 Elgin H H Taylor 18s 15j Silverode Case Railroad Pocket Watch – Grade 76. Watch is in nice physical condition for age, normal wear, dial has some crazing and crystal has a noticeable chip along edge (by 2), see photos.. The watch case has a railroad scene on the back which is worn (see photos). Watch currently does not run, but it wants to. It more than likely just needs a cleaning. It will run for a few seconds when you manually rotate the balance wheel, and the second/minute hands do move as time goes on. It does set/adjust/winds as it should (when it runs down a little). This is a rare Union Watch Co railroad grade pocket watch in working condition. The watch winds up, ticks, and keeps time overnight. The case reads’Napoleon 14k’ but it appears to be gold filled.
Coin edge Railroad case will work with stem or lever set movements. This grade 820, also referenced as 81, is stem set. Not running, for parts/repair. Bezel and case back unscrew smoothly. Case back has some surface scratches which should polish out. Nice clean railroad style dial with a small hairline crack by the one o’clock marker. Missing second hand, but post is there. Heavy duty glass crystal has wear. See pictures for additional details.
High-grade Elgin 21 jewel adjusted five position BW Raymond railroad grade antique pocket watch movement only. Movement Is beautifully finished with Strait line Damaskeening a gold train with gold timing screws and jewel settings. A very attractive, and good running movement that seems to keep time but I have not checked it over a long period but will not set correctly. Dial is the original Elgin bold Arabic boxcar style railroad with the scarce Invar balance marking. Watch winds correctly, and is lever set but does not set..
