Pocket Watch Case

This was my grandfather’s Waltham “Seaside” pocket watch with double hunter case with guilloche/engraved exterior. The serial number 4399604 yields a date of approx. 1890 when I look it up at the Pocket Watch Database. The case tests as 14K gold though it does not appear to be marked. You can see the test results in the last photo. I scratched it pretty well from the edge of the tab where one would expect the most wear to be. Also there are no signs of brass peeking through as I would expect for gold fill but I have not done any deeper, more destructive testing. There is what might be a 14 scrawled on the inner layer of the case (2nd to last photo, toward the lower left edge). The watch is approx. 35mm (1.4) across not including the crown, and the total weight is about 40.4g. The watch is not in running condition. This is an excellent antique Hamilton 16 size 19 jewel adjusted #996 pocket watch with RARE double hour hand, in a very nice Hamilton Railroad Model case! The fully-marked lever-set movement is marked: Hamilton Watch Co. 19 Jewels 996 Double Roller Adjusted 5 Positions 1338481 Motor Barrel. The movement features gold jewel settings, excellent finishing, and dates to 1916. The watch features RARE and desirable dual hour hands for monitoring two time zones, a feature implemented for railroad workers crossing from one time zone to another on the same line. The double-sunk enamel dial is marked Hamilton. The dial and hands are in EXCELLENT condition! The watch will currently wind/set, and will run when wound. The case is pristine! There are no areas of wear-through save for some tiny areas on the bow, and only very light scratches. Inside the case back is marked: HAMILTON Keystone Watch Case Co J. Boss 14k Gold Filled RAILROAD MODEL 63719. We do not know the service history on this watch, and recommend it be serviced to keep running and keep time. 1925 Hamilton RailRoad Pocket Philadelphia Watch Case Co 992 21 Jewel Double Roller 16S This listing is for a fine old. Hamilton Railroad Pocket Watch. At the outer edge of the dial. Has leather strap with a very early miniature oil drilling head. Attachment on the end. (possibly owned by someone in big oil or some affiliation). Case shows wear, but is overall nice. The watch appears to be in good working order and complete (although I do not know when it was last serviced and as such should probably be serviced now to be on the safe side), is clearly marked on the inside on the movement as adjusted to 5 positions with 21 Jewels and Double Roller and a serial number of 2325226 which dates this watch to 1925.
