Waltham Vanguard Model 1908 from 191516 size 23 jewel adjusted 6 positions serial # 20037984 in a Fortune GF OF #16 in a circle symbol serial #1382285. Note brassing on case and hairline at 5. I have no service history other than I have run it through an ultrasound and oiled the necessary locations. It winds and ticks for up to 40 hours but requires adjusting for optimum performance. I picked this up filthy and not operational but a good cleaning and addressing what was stopping the movement resulted in an operational watch. I have repaired the main spring and crystal. I noted the balance wheel serial differs from the movement so it was a previous repair. Note there is slight brassing of the case and hairlines at 5. This is a mechanical pocket watch not a quartz so keep in mind they are not the same for accuracy. I have dozens of watches like this that I will be listing as I finish working on them. I will get this to the post usually same day but up to 3 days depending on weekends/ holidays/ bad weather. Canada Post has labour disruptions which I have no control over but currently they are operating business as usual.
We have a real nice antique 1887 Waltham fifteen jewels, eighteen size stem wind and set antique pocket watch with a heavy nickel case, recently restored and serviced and in excellent looking & running condition. The Appelton Tracy & Co. Model 1883, fifteen jewels, 18 size full plate movement has a safety pinion, a micro-metric Church regulator, an adjusted balance with solid gold meantime screws and a special alloy hairspring, an engraved balance arm and fancy lettering. It was professionally serviced recently and runs strong. The serial number is 3294186 which dates it to 1887. The uncommon single sunk porcelain 24 Hour dial with Roman Numerals is in excellent condition with some very faint hairlines. The deep blued steel hands are in excellent condition also. The Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Heavy nickel case has a threaded bezel & back and is in excellent condition with very light wear from use. It has a nice engraved scene on the back cover, no dents or monograms. The new old antique stock beveled edge glass crystal is in fine condition. The approximate case measurements are 2-1/4 inches in diameter (not including the bow & crown) x 3/4 inch thick including the crystal. The gold plated crown is in excellent condition, and the heavy nickel bow is tight and in fine condition. This is a real nice restored antique timepiece! Great for your every day carry, or would make a nice gift! (My pictures have some unavoidable shadows, reflections and dust spots that will be cleaned; the watch looks fine in person). Please note that a vintage watch may not be as accurate as a modern watch. Also, please realize that these early watches are not water resistant or waterproof. We are here after the sale and guarantee our restorations for 6 months. (We cannot guarantee a watch that has been rusted, tampered with or damaged). The Post Office rates may be expensive which is beyond our control, we don’t add extra. Thanks for looking, and please check out our other auctions, we will be listing more soon!
