Antique Waltham Solid Gold Hunters Cased Pocket Watch for Restoration. 8 Size 7 Jewel William Ellery Grade Keywind Keyset Movement from 1879. Porcelain Glass Enamel Dial with Blued Finished Spade Style Hands. 14K Solid Gold Hunters Case weighs in at 30.3g(without crystal or movement). 42.6mm in Diameter(not including crown or bow). This lot comes to you AS-IS with no implied warranties or guarantees. This watch comes to you as found and as shown. It is currently not running however, the balance staff appears to be good as there is no wobble to the balance wheel. The movement’s case screw is broken off and thus just sitting in the case loose. The bezel will not snap closed due to the screw not seating the movement in the case properly. The crystal is missing from the bezel. Beautiful hunter’s case stamped A. Does not have a gold stamp but it acid tests as solid gold and tested with a reading of 14K. These particular size cases are known by Waltham experts to often be cased in solid gold cases even though there are no trademarks indicating the gold content. The covers open and close as they should having good hinges, mostly able to hold position when opened. The front cover spring is weak or broken as the cover does not “pop” up when the crown is depressed. Our inventory consists mainly of used items from 1 year old to 180 years old and usually have some type of mechanical motor or machine driving it. We do our best to describe them accurately however, we cannot foresee the future and old parts can break at any time without warning, and without visible flaw.
