Silver pair case fusee detent chronometer. Parkinson and frodsham change alley. London hallmarked 1818 dial at fault. Runs for a while but stops foot detent. Looks ok bridge cock tipycal brockbanks type. Very unusual compensation curb this type. Was used on polar expeditions at that time. Although i can not find any records chain is. On cases not bad condition screw in the case. Lower part of bezel to hold movement or lock it in. Not there minor problem will need some work to repair. But well worth it for a rare watch. A GOOD ANTIQUE 18CT GOLD ENGLISH HUNTER CASE POCKET WATCH, ROTHERHAMS LONDON. Antique, 18CT Gold English Hunter Cased Pocket Watch by Rotherhams of London and dating from c1902. The English, plain, 18 carat gold case is hallmarked with the maker’s mark “JR” for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), the “crown and “18″ for 18 carat gold, the anchor Birmingham town mark and date letter “c for 1902/03. The inner cuvette similarly marked. The English Lever movement is signed by the maker “Rotherhams, London” and serial number 244430. The watch is stem wound and pin set. The white enamel dial is in good overall condition, however does have some faint hairlines. It has the hours in roman numerals and is signed by the maker. The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 112.1g. The inner cuvette (dust cover) bears an interesting presentation inscription, the watch presented to a Civil Engineer. Presented to R W Newman Esq. E by Paarl Inhabitants to commemorate his erection of Huguenot Bridge, August 1st 1905. This is a Top Grade Minute Repeater Chronograph Pocket Watch from Humber Ramuz Co. Dating to approximately 1890s. The movement is tremendous with JEWELS TO HAMMERS and 30J+ overall along with wolf teeth winding and movement top-side chronograph mechanism. But this tremendous movement is not the only awesome aspect of this pocket watch, the case is so stunning that it can certainly be considered to be one-of-a-kind. On the front cover there is a high relief sculpture of a griffon with all of its fangs, claws and wings whereby it is holding a large piece of diamond emitting rays. This diamond is old European cut and approximately 0.45ct. The base finish of the case itself is a sand-blasted look and the Humber Ramuz label is stamped 3 times including the wording medaille dor exp. Paris 1889 marking a great achievement of the brand. Condition-wise the movement was serviced by a great watchmaker just over a year ago and has been sitting in the safe. It cant be overlooked to have a highly capable watchmaker to service such a treasure the correct way. Cosmetically the dial has many hairlines cracks from 12 oclock position. There are a few hard-to-notice shallow dents here and there on the case. The chime and tone of the repeating is loud, clear, and beautiful sounding. Diameter is 53.5mm, total weight is 133.2 grams.
