Offered is a nice, all original Waltham Vanguard 23 Jewel Railroad watch. Watch is running, timekeeping accuracy and service history unknown. Defects are as shown: dial chips, base metal showing on bow, covers are difficult to screw on (they do close completely but there is resistance, does not affect function but mentioned for accuracy). 23J movement has raised gold jewel settings and runs with good motion. 1893 Elgin National Watch Company, U. 18 size, seven jewels stem wind & set large antique pocket watch in excellent looking and running condition. The movement was professionally serviced recently, runs strong & keeps good time. The serial number on the grade 73 movement is 5366691 which dates it to 1893. The full plate seven jewel movement has a safety pinion and nice engraving on the balance arm. The single sunk porcelain enameled 24 hour dial with roman numerals is in very good condition with some light hairlines, and the deep blued steel hands are in fine condition. The crystal is a brand new G-S high dome acrylic model. The original Keystone Cyclone hinged cover model rolled gold filled case is in excellent condition for its age with light pocket wear, no dents. There are small, faded initials on the back which are not very noticeable looks like B. Please see the picture. The approximate case measurements are 2-1/4 inches in diameter (not including the bow & crown) x 3/4 inch thick including the crystal. The hinges work fine and the covers snap shut tight. The bow and winding crown are in very good condition with light wear. Included with your watch is a modern 12-3/4 inches long gold plated chain with nice large links. This is a nice original early timepiece that is well preserved. Great for everyday use, or would make a fine gift! Also great for Re-enactors. My pictures have many shadows, reflections and dust spots that will be cleaned; the watch looks fine in person! Please note that an antique watch may not be as accurate as a modern watch. For your consideration is an antique Rockford 16 size 21 jewel 545 pocket watch with private label dial, and nice swing-out case! The movement is marked: Rockford Watch Co. 545 21 Jewels Adjusted 5 Positions Safety Pinion Double Roller 781741. The movement features gold jewel settings, a gold train, and dates to 1908. The double sunk private label dial is marked: F. The dial is in fair condition, there are some hairlines in the finish, but no chips. The watch is currently running, and will wind/set properly. We do not know the service history and can not guarantee the time keeping on this watch. The original glass crystal was swapped out for plastic at some point, there are light scratches in the crystal. The case is in great condition overall, showing only light scratches, and some very small areas of wear-through on the finish, particularly along the edge of the bezel, and up around the bow/crown area. Here is a SUPERB and a highly sought-after VINTAGE Elgin RAILROAD GRADE pocket watch in an 18K SOLID GOLD HUNTER CASE…. The serial number indicates the estimated year of production to have been 1879, with the personal engraving on the cuvette cover revealing a presentation date of Dec. The engraving shows the presenter of this watch to have been Farnham & Lovejoy which a Google search shows to have been a Minneapolis Law Firm at the time, the watch comes with its original box that is signed Eustes Bros. Which another Google search shows to have been a jewelry store on Nicollete St. This example is a grade 50 model 1 convertible movement and was in production at The Elgin National Watch Co. There were only 36000 made during those 17 years, so it is a somewhat scarce model and unusual to find one now that is in this great condition some 135 years later…. The watch is in good running order and keeping time, the dial is nearly flawless, the Breguet style hands are in excellent condition, and the case is in good cosmetic condition with all the inside surfaces being polished to perfection, the hinges function properly and the covers rest open to the correct ninety degree angles… The front and rear covers are each signed 18K and hallmarked 18K and have tested to that content both electronically and with acid testing, gross weight 143.5 grams…. The rear cover is superbly engraved with a multi-themed scene and maintains most of its original detailing, while the front cover details are worn thin…. One interesting feature regarding the Mosely regulator__it has a traveling nut arrangement and this example is unique in that the curved threaded rod that holds the nut is a very strong BLUED STEEL COLOR… Thank You Very Much.
