OFFERED FOR SALE TODAY IS THIS FANTASTIC C1770 FRENCH TRI COLOR SOLID 18 CARAT GOLD VERGE FUSEE LADYS SMALL WATCH IN SUPERB ORIGINAL CONDITION BY CHEVALIER OF PARIS! This is a most beautiful and very rare solid 18k French CIRCA 1770 beautifully designed and exquisitely made lady’s VERGE FUSEE minature fob watch. The watch measures 3.0cms (30mm) across excluding the crown and chain ring. This truly stunning watch is beautifully made and shouts quality. It is beautifully engraved to the case back and has a fabulous tri color gold repousse basket of flowers design on it. It is hall marked for 18k with French poincon marks to the bow (Eagles head) and two initials. The back of the case has a wonderful satinised finish and the whole of the case is in GOOD condition with only light wear and tear. The case front bezel opens as it should to reveal the dial. This charming and rare 18 carat gold watch has a lovely all original bright white dial. IT IS FULLY SIGNED FOR’CHEVALIER A PARIS’ It has lovely black painted Roman numerals which are in good condition. The is some chipping around the key hole and a noticeable chip on the dial edge at 6 o’clock. There is a black painted minute recording outer minute track which is in good condition. The hands seem original and are of a fancy open work filigree design and look beautiful. The high domed crystal looks original and is made from glass. As such it shows light marks across its surface. The extended solid gold crown is in excellent condition, as is the chain ring. This is a beautiful and clean manual key wind and set miniature stunning VERGE FUSEE FRENCH FULLY SIGNED movement. The movment is gilded AND LOOKS LOVELY. Themovement is signed for CHEVALIER PARIS and is numbered. This shows that this is a true original case and movement match and is not a marriage. The movement winds and sets as it should. Verge fusee movements will not keep great time and this one keeps time to about 10 mins per day. There is NO exception. This antique pocket watch is made by ELGIN Watch Co IN 1909, size 0,7 JEWELS, serial number 13580803, clean dial, clean crystal and clean movement, lever set, winds, sets and runs! There is a scratch mark onthe inside of the case which can be polished out if it bothers u, I would leave it as is. The design on both sides of the case is intricate floral leaves on one side and blank cartouche on the other side, not monogrammed , measures 1 3/4 by 1 1/4 inch , weighs 31 grams. This is a very nice pocket watch for the collector, looks like seldom used and recently serviced in 2016. Civil War Pocket Watch. PS Bartlett model pocket watch. What a fabulous find from the Civil War era. This is probably the most original Civil War era watch that I’ve ever seen. The 4 ounce coin silver case is in good condition, no dents or scratches. The porcelain dial is almost flawless with one tiny hairline at the 1:30 position. Look at the original blued tapered hands. The fat beveled crystal is in great condition with no chips or scratches. The serial number of this watch puts it at a manufacture date from 1864 to Feb 1865.
