Antique 1899 Elgin Size 6 Pocket Watch in Keystone J Boss Grade 14K Gold Filled 20 Year Full Hunter Case. We are pleased to offer for sale this super nice antique Elgin National Watch Co. Size 6 pocket watch, serial number 9098435 made in 1899. The 20 year 14K gold-filled hunter case was made by J. Boss of the Keystone Watch Case Co. Boss developed a rolling process of applying two thin sheets of gold to a thin sheet of metal which enabled the production of stronger and less expensive watch cases and totally revolutionized the watch case industry of the day. This process resulted in what we now call gold-filled. This watch is in excellent condition and runs great. The dial is in mint condition as is the crystal glass. The gold-filled case is also in excellent condition and features flowers, leaves, scrollwork and what appears to be a lighthouse with mountains in the background. Are engraved on the case. Also included is a 21″ long 10K gold-filled chain marked “Speidel. I don’t know if it is original to the watch, but the Speidel company was in existence at that time. 1890s Illinois Bunn Special railroad pocket watch, hunter case, rare 18-size with 24 jewels. Beautiful and working perfectly. Heres a special one. And its all there: from famed Bunn Special movement to gin-clear crystal, pristine double-sunk porcelain face, pendant-set movement, and the beautiful gold-filled original hunter case. Just a wonderful watch in all ways. Made in the 1890s (Model 5, serial number 1357047), this fine historical watch is still working perfectly. Very rare Antique verge fusee pocket watch. Made by the watch maker. The movement is running. And a good strong tick in all positions. Keeps very good time for a 200 year old verge watch. The movement is signed D. Blaikley 1818, and the number 8559. Typical a movement whats made around 1818. The dial and the crystal glass are near mint. The Stainless steel watch case looks like new, this watch case is a later make. I guess its made around 1885<>1905. Its a really a beautiful heavy case made with a great workmanship. I have never seen such a drum style Stanley steel watch case before. All covers open en closing properly, no dings or dents. The back cover has no function. Overall this is a very nice antique verge pocket watch. In a fine working good overall condition. Across 52 mm, including bow 75 mm. Thick 22 mm, weight 141 grams. Vintage Elgin Railroad Approved Pocket Watch for Restoration. 16 Size 21 Jewel B. Raymond Grade 472 with Up/Down Winding Indicator. Porcelain Dial with Blued Finished Whip Style Hands. 12kt Yellow Gold Filled Elgin Style #30 Railroad Case. 50.45mm in diameter(not including crown or bow). Feedback will still remain veiwable to the public. This lot comes to you AS-IS with no implied warranties or guarantees. This watch has been bench tested and is currently not in running. It will run for a little when wound however, it will not stay running. Balance staff appears to be okay as there is no wobble in the balance. The movement is clean looking but the regulator and whip spring have light corrosion. It appears someone acid tested the inside cover and didnt neutralize the acid. Fumes have caused some corrosion that should be fairly easy to clean off. Also, the whip spring end looks to have snapped off. Porcelain Dial shows a hairline at the 1 position and I see no chips. Mineral Glass Crystal has very light scratches here and there. Gold Filled Case shows wear to the cover designs and light to moderate wear through to the gold plating on the covers edges and the frame of the case. The bow flops from side to side and does not hold position. Hamilton railroad grade 990 model 1 pocket watch. Lancaster PA 16s, 21 Ruby jewel and Sapphire pallet jewel nickel movement is adjusted to 5 positions. Serial number 383453 dates this pocket watch to 1907. Watch case is high quality grade hallmarked FAHY’S WARRANTED TO WEAR PERMANENTLY. Watch Case shows signs of extreme wear there are some deep scratches and marks on the edges. Design on back cover is badly worn. There are several spider web looking hairline cracks in the double sunk dial near the 1 and 2, 8 and 9. I have replaced the seconds hand in the sub dial please refer to pictures. This railroad grade pocket watch winds, sets and runs with no issues balance wheel has brisk motion. It is keeping accurate time. The 21 jewel nickel finished movement has been well maintained. It has beautiful etched design on the plates it is like looking at a piece of art. This pocket watch was carried and used as a working mans tool to keep track of time. A person of this time period who owned this grade pocket watch was serious about purchasing an accurate, durable quality time piece. This Hamilton is far from perfect it has some normal patina for an antique pocket watch that is 110 years old. The watch has a square pillar English verge fusee, chain driven movement. Engraved balance cock with grotesque face and blue Tompion regulator disk. Sterling silver pair case. Original inner case is hallmarked for London 1771. Outer case hallmarked with London hallmarks for 1777, case probably made at the time as a replacement, fits well. Both cases in good condition, please see pictures for more details. Movement is signed Jno Johnson, Halesworth, No. T he movement is working well and runs the full length of the chain. The original white enamel dial is in excellent condition for its age. Blue steel beetle poker hands. Bullseye glass in good order – a couple of surface scratches.
