Up for sale is a beautiful Nelson, London pair cased sterling silver verge fusee pocket watch. This watch comes from my private collection, it has been serviced and cleaned by a professional watchmaker with very good reputation. Picture documentation of the cleaning and service is available upon request. The watch case material is sterling silver. According to the date letter, it has been made in 1801, so it is 215 years old! This watch is pair cased, both cases are sterling silver, and in very good condition. Watch has original chain, and is in well running condition. Size : 60mm, w/o outer case 54mm. Dial, case, glass, hands and movement are in very good condition! Movement marked : Nelson, 1008, London. This is a very nice looking watch! The case is a beautiful Roy 14k solid gold case. This watch is all original. Movement : This watch runs great and keeps very good time. The movement has 21 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions, double roller, lever set, all gold gear train, gold jewel settings, gold balance weights, Ruby jewels, and it has a high grade regulator. This is a very nice movement. All original, all matching serial numbers. Dial : The original Hamilton 4 foot Rail Road dial is in very good condition. The dial has a hairline and a small edge flake near the lever. Case is in very good condition. This is a very nice looking case. This case has a very nice glass crystal. The case has no dings. The bezel screws on and off like it should. This is a flip out case so the stem must be pulled up before the movement is flipped out. I don’t think the bow it the original. Up for sale is a beautiful 1923 Hamilton 992E 16 size 21 Jewel Railroad Grade Pocket Watch in a fabulous Model 2 Bar over Crown Gold Filled Case. This watch has been fully serviced. Cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner and oiled. It is keeping near perfect time, within a minute per 24 hours. It is a Model 1 with the narrow lines on the movement. Serial # 1716089 dates this movement to around 1923. What makes this movement particularly special is it was produced 7 or 8 years before Hamilton started making the 992′s with the Elinvar hairspring. It was likely sent back in to the factory at some point to be repaired or serviced and was converted at that time. The pallet bridge is marked Elivar and it does have the metallic color hairspring which would indicate that it was added just after they were produced. The earliest Elivar hairsprings were metallic in color but were soon after switched to blue. The dial is a virtually mint porcelain double sunk “Blindman’s” Montgomery dial. There are no hairlines or damage at all. Stunningly clean and beautiful. The steel blue hands are also exceptionally clean. This watch is cased in a sparkling Model 2 Bar over Crown Wadsworth 10 Gold Filled Case. The crown is marked Hamilton Railroad. It is in exquisite condition. There is no brass showing anywhere on the case. No dings or dents on the edges and the bow is nice and stiff. The back cover does have one virtually undetectable indentation and just the slightest amount of pocket wear to the pickiest eye but that is it for imperfections. It really is about as nice as they come. If you would like your package to be insured please request before paying and I will add it to your invoice. Beautiful solid and super clean Scottish made by James Blaik of Peterhead, Serial no. 223 silver cased verge fusee. Sharp Solid sterling silver case is Silver hall marked (Q) 1811 London assay. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with nice clear Roman numerals and outer ring minute numbers. This dial has beautiful eye appeal with just a few very faint spider lines and only a small chip and repair near the center hole arbor, Undistracting. Beautiful original matching solid Gold hands. Sharp near spotless high domed crystal. All case covers open, close and fit perfect together with nice and tight hinges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs full length of chain. Balance has an unbelievably outstanding motion with a nice strong main spring. The balance bridge with its beautiful Diamond end stone, has a unique face and ornate scroll work as does the left side of the movement. The movement is super clean (almost pristine) with bright blue screws and is regulated by a silver disked regulator with a finger pointing for adjustment. The watch measures approx. 55mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 2 or 3 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 205 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. Inside the case is an old watch makers paper. Watch is listed in the Watch and Clock makers of the world as Blaik, James of Peterhead Scotland c. Watch comes with a sharp key for winding. This is a vintage men’s Elgin (12 Size) men’s pocket watch, from about 1919. It does not run. The balance appears to be good, and the watch will tick a few seconds when shaken. The movement has a. Few tiny dark spots on the steel parts. The case is Keystone Guaranteed 14K. 585 Fine (solid gold). It has a shallow dent on the front lid that is only obvious from inside. There is a deep crease on the edge of the inner back dust cover. There are a few small dents and dings on the ribbed edge. The front hinge is stretched, so the cover opens a little too far. The front lid latches shut most of the time, but occasionally it pops open by itself. The lids on this case seem relatively thin and flexible, like a light-duty case, but I don’t know the weight. The crystal is missing. The dial is in good condition. The hour and second hands are shiny. The minute hand is rusty, and badly bent. The winding crown looks good. The bow is shiny and tight.
