One of the nicest, most pristine you are likely to see. The gorgeous 14K yellow gold signed case is in excellent original condition with little to no signs of use. Gorgeous pristine white porcelain dial with stunning black roman numeral markers and excellent blue steel hands. The crystal is also in excellent condition. Inside, the high grade 13 jewel, 6 size hand winding movement is in excellent running condition and keeping excellent time although its service history is unknown. The case measures 40 mm wide. Gilt pair case watch measuring 51.5 mm in diameter by George Jepson of Melbourne. This is an interesting watch with nice bright gilt plates and fine quality engraved/pierced plates. Not much information that I have found on Mr. George Jepson only that he was in prison in 1811 in Nottingham. The 1811 prison record listed him as a watch/clock maker living in Nottingham originally from Melbourne. This watch was no doubt made before his move to Nottingham so I would guess 1790- early1800. The gilt brass pair cases with little remaining gilt so I polished and it looks great. The verge movement recently serviced and keeping reasonable time for a verge. The Arabic numeral porcelain dial is in excellent condition and became very popular during the end of the 18th century. The gold hands are old and watch has a clean bulls eye crystal. The spring catch activated with the button on the case back is missing the very end piece(latch). The bow is old correct style replacement but in silver not brass. Inside case back has watch paper by “Bunston” of Chard. Bunston was a mid 19th century watchmaker.
