Pocket Watch Case

This is a nice Civil War Waltham model 1857 made in February 1863. It is a keywind and keyset movement in a really nice silver Eagle Waltham case. The watch ticks and runs but will require a service to keep accurate time. The dial is perfect and beautiful. The case has a glass crystal which is likely original because they are almost impossible to find in glass at that size nowadays. The case springs open and closes but the hinge will require adjustment. I only have a universal key set so no key is provided, sorry. It is housed in a beautiful coin silver hunter case. Movement is key wind and key set, winds form the back. Works well and keeps good time. Serial number is 24978, made in 1860-61. Glass dial is in great shape. What a beautiful case! Is is very heavy and beautiful. Hinges are very strong. Glass crystal and hands are in excellent shape as well. This is an antique Howard N size keywind pocket watch. The movement is gilt, jeweled, and has EARLY serial number 4585. The watch runs strong, but has not been cleaned or serviced in years. So, I cannot guarantee it to be a reliable timekeeper. The dial is good, with a couple of faint small hairlines that hard difficult to see without a magnifier. The case is not the original Howard case. It is a keywind hunter case, coin silver, 18 size, with good case springs and hinges. The case is a 3 ounce size, and is in very good condition with normal signs of use. You can decide whether to carry it in this case, or find a correct case for it. A key is included. Very unique pocket watch from early in the Civil War. This American Watch Co. (Later American Waltham) William Ellery model was manufactured in 1862 and is a model 1857. The dial is in very good condition for its age. The case is coin silver, full Hunter, glass crystal, hinged bezel. All hinges work properly and the lids snap closed. The hair spring stud is not attached and the hairspring needs to be replaced. Chain with what I believe is the original key is included. Estimated Production Year: 1862. Total Production: 521,689.
