Pocket Watch Case

This was my grandfather’s Waltham “Seaside” pocket watch with double hunter case with guilloche/engraved exterior. The serial number 4399604 yields a date of approx. 1890 when I look it up at the Pocket Watch Database. The case tests as 14K gold though it does not appear to be marked. You can see the test results in the last photo. I scratched it pretty well from the edge of the tab where one would expect the most wear to be. Also there are no signs of brass peeking through as I would expect for gold fill but I have not done any deeper, more destructive testing. There is what might be a 14 scrawled on the inner layer of the case (2nd to last photo, toward the lower left edge). The watch is approx. 35mm (1.4) across not including the crown, and the total weight is about 40.4g. The watch is not in running condition. Circa 1901 based on the serial number. The watch case measures approx. 41.2mm in diameter. Size 6 or 6s. The white enamel dial is stamped AMERICAN WALTHAM and is in excellent shape. Brand new crystal (not shown in the photos). The original gold filled hunting case is in very good condition. Both lids open and close properly. Nice floral and scroll etching to both sides with inlaid green, yellow, rose , and white gold. I did acid test the case and it appears to be gold filled while the N and Cartouche test for 14K GOLD The inner rear cover is stamped WARRANTED PERMANENTLY 932493 The movement is stamped 11068xxx ADJUSTED A.
