Offered is a very nice high grade Elgin pocket watch. The Philadelphia 20 year gold filled case is in great condition with no brass showing and tight hinges. The front cover hinge may be a little too tight, as the lift spring will not open it. Fancy numerals and original gold hands. Movement runs with good motion. Watch gives the appearance of not having been cleaned in a long time, dirt on dial, crystal, and case. The crown sometimes needs to be depressed slightly to engage the winding clutch, mentioned for accuracy. Overall a very nice old watch. The white jewel stones around the bezel and in the dial cartouches are of unknown composition (because they are too small to use a diamond tester on). One cartouche in dial replaced by diamond. Not much to research , but I did find a 1867 with the serial number of 351, xxx , so I’m guessing this to be around 1870 to 1880. Smooth running, the case is very nice , the crystal has some lite scratches, but the dial looks not to be cracked, and in decent condition. Antique Waltham 14K Gold Box Hinge Double Hunter Case Pocket Watch. Both sides of this size 6, WM Ellery grade Waltham watch are engraved in an Eastlake style, one side with a six-point cartouche containing a rustic frame with flowers around a building with tower and a border of acorns and oak leaves, and the other with a matching vignette but an empty frame waiting for a monogram. There is a dedication reading F. Mamie” on the inner of two back covers, “14K marks in two places and the watch is in excellent physical condition with a missing second hand.
