Very rare Pocket watch Pavel Bure Paul Buhre in his own case. Power reserve 30 hours, rush for about 1-2 minute in 24 hours. On the dial spider web. No chips of enamel. Glass is a whole. This is a antique verge fusee pair cased pocket watch from 1772. This is a nice square pillar watch, the fusee chain Is detached and the balance wheel needs some work. However this is a lovely clean movement and it is such a lovely size. The movement is signed by T. Betson London” number “3081. Betson was well known for making Pained cow horn watches of which this is a quintessential example. Overall this is a beautiful movement and the engraving on the balance cock is exceptional. This is a painted horn example which means the cow horn is made to look like tortoise shell. Then a layer of paper is placed under the horn, and that is the exotic pattern you can see coming though. The case is made of guilt metal then gold studs have been added to hold down the horn. Inside the outer case is a original watch paper, this is a nice part of the watches history and we know from looking at that, that the watch once lived on the Isle of Wight. In summary the outer case is in reasonable condition the only problem is a bit of horn is missing from the case but apart from that it in good condition, the case also closes well. The inner case is made of silver and has the London hallmark for 1772 overall the inner case is in good condition. However at some point in its life the handle has been soldered but it is now Secure. The dial, crystal and hands. The Hans are original and are made of pierced blued steel. The crystal is original and is still clear. Finally the dial is made of enamel and is a well used example of a late 18th century watch dial. Finally this is a lovely watch and would be a great part of anyone’s collection. Heavy 18ct Gold English Freesprung Hunting Cased Pocket Watch. Very heavy 18ct gold English free-sprung 3/4 plate fusee hunting cased pocket watch. Signed white enamel dial with roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and blue steel hands. The movement; 3/4 plate numbered with large diamond end stone. It’s unusually highly jeweled for an English watch. The movement is signed Le Cheminant Wimpole St London. This watchmaker is well known for having made very high quality timepieces including chronometers and deck watches for the Royal Navy. Please see this link for some information on the maker. The movement is a keywind free-sprung fusee. The watch is of a particularly heavy gauge and made by one of England’s finest casemakers of that period Fred Thoms F. T (Frederick Thoms, Clerkenwell).
