A Rare Museum Quality. The piece features an elegant design, with all the charm of 18th-century verge fusee watches. The silver casing has a round ball pendant with oval bow. The Porcelain dial is white enamel with Arabic numerals and the hands are gold. The watch movement is composed of a brass full plate resting on ornate rectangular pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, pierced and engraved balance bridge secured with two screws and silvered regulator. The movement is in good running condition. Key and Anchor Fob included. Measures 2 1/4 in diameter and weighs 98.7 grams. Winds up and works. Tested for 12 hours and it has lost around 10 minutes and by the most Jewelers this is justified for these around 200 years old watches.. Rare Dome Shape Glass. HIGH QUALITY VERGE FUSEE, 1805, PAIR CASE, SMALL SECONDS DIAL & STOP- WATCH FOR DOCTOR. This antique Master Piece has to be seen, and heard and felt in your hands to fully appreciate it. It is absolutely perfect in every way. Even though it is 217 Years old, from 1805! Naturally the BIG and HIGH QUALITY VERGE FUSEE MOVEMENT RUNS STRONGLY. The Watch is oversized at 58 mm and it has two cases. Both inner-& outer Case is Guided on solid Silver. Unusually for the Time of Napoleon, this Pocket Watch is equipped with a small Seconds Hand and Sub-dial at the 6 oClock position. Note that Verge movements have gear ratios that doesn’t allow to just put Seconds Hand on the third wheel. Usually the third wheel doesn’t make one Turn per 60 seconds. It need to make special Effort and Calculations, to make Gears that make one Turn in 60 Seconds. It is very rare to see Second Hand on Verges of this Time! This pocket watch was especially made for a Doctor and it also has a STOP FUNCTION. Possibly many Doctors have inherited this precious and expensive Watch and used it at their services. The Mainspring has been fully wound more than 24 hours ago and it is still running with CA 30minutes late.. This is truely to be expected from a Verge Fusee Watch of that Age! The Large DIAL is in Good Condition. Expert Advice explained that the dial may have been replaced around 1880 with this flat dial. It has Large Roman Numerals. The CONVEX GLASS above it, is also in excellent condition. So is the seconds sub-dial and hand. Just like the finest and hardened Watch Hands. Please examine the Fotos as they are part of the description. On the Guilded Backcover is a ornate engraving what looks like a C T K entwined. The inner and outer Case opens and shuts well. Care is necessary not to touch the little leaver of the Stop watch mechanism on the side of the inner Case. From the inner Case the Mainspring is wound and from the Front at the centre of the Hands the watch is Set for the right time. Yes, the Watch needs very gentle Hands, but than again it has survived perfectly for almost 220 Years. Thank you for watching and looking at my item.
