Vintage Illinois Men’s 12 Size Pocket Watch. This vintage Illinois pocket watch is 12 size (case diameter 44 mm). The movement is 17 jewels and marked Adjusted 3 positions. Movement condition is excellent. Movement has gilt trim, and a little bit of the black lettering has come out. The case is white gold filled and very nice with just a little brass on the bow. This is a scarce rigid bow style case. Dial is original with some minor speckles. Nice watch from the 1920s or 1930s. This watch runs and keeps reasonable time, but I do not know the history of this watch, so it may need to be serviced. Sorry, this is NOT a “Make Offer” listing. Offered is a scarce KW Elgin Frances Rubie pocket watch. There are supposed to be 3 runs of 1000 of these, but I believe none have been found from the third run. This one has an early Boss patent gold-filled case, the only brass showing is the bow. The front cover opens to slightly beyond 90 degrees. The movement has bright gilding – nicer than most, but has a broken balance staff so is not running. Don’t miss this scarce watch. RARE AND HISTORICALLY INTERESTING! CAPTAIN’S DUAL TIME ZONE WATCH WITH A VERY RARE ALUMINUM CASE, MARKED WARRANTED ALUMINUM. There was a time in the mid 1800′s when Aluminum was more precious and costly than Gold. History has Napolean III serving his most honored guests with Aluminum tableware, while the less exalted attendees had to make do with silver! The use of Aluminum in Watch Cases is rare indeed. The use of this Metal in a Seafaring Timepiece is of interesting Historical note because of Aluminum’s oxidation resistance. This is the only timepiece of this type I have ever encountered. It has a “Warranted Aluminum” stamp that indicates the Material was still rare when the case was produced. The Movement dates to Ca. This would have been in a transitional period when Aluminum was probably still more precious than silver, but not ultra rare and valuable. The cost of producing Aluminum dropped rapidly as electrostatic collection methods were improved throughout the 1860′s and 70′s. With the advent of more modern electricity generation the cost of production and thus the cost of the metal itself dropped to a level where commercial industrial uses were possible. Nice Porcelain Dial with sub-seconds and 2 Time Zones on a single Train. Only very minor blems. 57mm Diameter Aluminum Case with some wear to plating. Case marked as: “Warranted Aluminum”, with a Crown. Hinge is perfect and tight, spring is good and firm, and cover does not open past 90 degrees. Cuvette Marked Double Timer, Full Jewelled. Overall Excellent condition with minor wear and signs of age as noted. Minor Blems to dial, minor loss of plating or simply rubbing to oxidation on case. Minute hand shows tarnish. Antique Rockford 18 Size, Keywind Pocket Watch. This antique Rockford watch is 18 size (case diameter 56 mm). The case is a nice nickel silver with a thick, beveled edge glass crystal. This is a fairly scarce Fahys pair case. The movement ring and case back form a second “case” that can be removed from the outer case. The case is in nice condition and is a very good example of this type of case. The dial is original porcelain is excellent. This is an extra nice “SUN & MOON” Fusee pocket watch. Make an Offer — All offers are welcome. This is a very rare watch and compared to other pocket watches only a few of these exist. Many pocket watch collectors have never seen a Sun & Moon watch. This watch only has a minute hand. The Sun & Moon travel in the window of the dial. You will notice the moon and the sun has a pointer that points to the Roman numerals to tell the hour. Then you look at the minute single hand for the minutes. The case covers open and close properly. The case is approximately 58mm, excluding the bow and winding stem. The movement looks clean & nice, and runs will for hours, and will stop running. It needs to be cleaned and/or oiled. The crystal is clear and very thick. The case has some wear and and small dings – over all excellent for it’s age. Both the inner and outer sterling cases have the same hallmarks. This watch appears to be all original. You will not be disappointed when you see this watch in person. Here is a great Hamilton 18 size 17 jewel grade 938 with a very low production of 2198 total produced. According to the book it is Railroad grade and a 2 star movement. The watch sets winds and runs, and has been keeping great time over the past 2 days. The dial is chip and hairline free, the hands are nice and blue, the crystal has a few light scratches. The case is a Fahys Montauk 20 year gold filled no brass showing that I can see and both covers screw on and off very easy. The 938 grade was hamiltons top grade movement, it has the highest quality screws, jewels and materials. It is their highest grade 16 jewel 18 size watch and believed to be higher grade then most of their 21 jewel movements I had this listed on my other account.
