Rare Chinese Duplex Pocket Watch, Unmarked Silver Case, To Restore (E89). Please see photographs for condition. The pictures form an important part of the description. The case is unmarked apart from a serial number and the initials CF. The watch is not working. It is fully wound at present, the balance is secure but stiff and not easily moving freely. When shaken a bit it will tick once or twice but thats it. The case is 49.5mm in diameter. A lovely piece and a great restoration project. Please see other items. A very interesting and most important fine Shagreen outer case with a silver watch. BY JOHN RICHARDS A LISTED MAKER. PLEASE DO TAKE TIME TO READ THE FULL LISTING AND DO ENLARGE THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO GET A BETTER LOOK. The size of the outer shagreen case is 51 m. The case is in good condition with a good colour. Most of the gold pins are in place, small pieces as shown missing round front bezel. Shagreen is a form of sharkskin it was used to cover expensive watches. The size of the case with the watch size is 41 m. Case with the watch is Silver hallmarked London for 1771. DIAL white enamel is nice condition. The glass is very high nose mineral and clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs Time keeping Aprox + or – 2/3 minuets per hour, mask engraved and scroll pierced engraved broad balance cock, square pillars. Engraved on the back plate with the makers name. The watch will come with a key. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it. This watch is so very well priced, and well presented. An absolute must for any serious collector or would make a wonderful present. Watch is very heavy. And massive 14kt gold. Made between 1902 and 1906. The Invar watch company was founded in 1901 by Achille Hirsch in Le Chaux de Fonds, but they didn’t’ register the name until 1925. Invar material (64FeNi) used for this movement (the split bi-metallic balance obsolete). Was invented in 1896 by Swiss scientist Charles Édouard Guillaume. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1920 for this discovery, which enabled improvements in scientific instruments. 16 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set 993 “Special” pocket watch. A rare and very beautiful watch with movement featuring a spectacular 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish and with “Special” marked to its barrel bridge. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script signature and is housed in a 20 year gold-filled Fahys Montauk hunting case with attractive striped pattern engraving to its front and rear. Movement serial number is 743307. Running though started somewhat sluggishly and I think likely hasn’t seen a cleaning and oiling in quite some time. Movement is beautiful overall with a superb 2-tone color. Regulator spring has some oxide, and barrel bridge has a scratch at its perimeter below the serial number. Dial is beautiful with just a very faint outer chapter hairline at 54 minutes. Case is very attractive overall with excellent engraving detail. Case front opens a small bit wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 100 degrees), and case band has dings around the 10 O’clock area. Glass crystal has some glue excess around its seat. RARE JULES JURGENSEN COPENHAGEN 18K GOLD POCKET WATCH 12535 FULL HUNTER CASE. This is an elegant full hunting case precision pocket watch by the important Danish watchmaker Jules Jürgensen from Copenhagen in 1867. Total weight is 70.8 grams. Very nice 18k gold case, numbered and signed gold dome, case maker’s punch mark “JJ”. The case has only tiny traces of age and use and is very well preserved. The back side of the case has a small dent that barely visible. The clean movement is working very well. Over all this rare and beautiful watch is in a very good state of preservation. He was born in Le Locle 1808 as son of the watchmaker Urban Jürgensen (grandson of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet). In Copenhagen Jurgensen received his training in the watchmaking business of his family and in addition studied mathematics, astronomy and foreign languages. Shortly after the death of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet, Juergensen went to Switzerland and opened a watch manufactory in Le Locle. His precision watches gained worldwide recognition. This is a very unusual watch. I really do not know much about this. This was made to show the time on the front dial and the back dial is a timer. The balance swings but this will obviously need some work. The case is solid 18k yellow gold but I do not know the weight. The total weight of the watch is about 80 grams and it is about 45.75mm in diameter. It is missing both crystals. There is a hallmark on the pendant and the bow is obviously not solid gold.
