Beautiful 1780′s English verge fusee Gold Plated inner pair case pocket watch by D. Amazing inner pair case that was fully yellow Gold plated at one time, but the outside plating has now worn away and appears to possibly be a type of rose Gold fill or cooper alloy. I have not had it tested so at this time I will sell as if an unk material. Case polished up easily to a nice clean shine. The beautiful bow and stem are truly unique. Beautiful white colored porcelain dial with nice Roman numerals. The dial does have a few old chips and repairs, but has real nice eye appeal. The Gold hands are a perfect complement to the dial and case. Sharp clean high domed bullseye Crystal is real nice with just a few tiny scratches and edge chips. The case cover opens and closes nice and tight with good movement hidges. Key wind and key set pocket watch runs beautifully with nice Balance motion. The balance bridge is beautiful with ornate scroll work, as does the right side of the movement. The movement is super clean with sharp blue screws and is regulated by a right side blue disked regulator. The watch measures approx. 42mm excluding the bow. Pocket watch runs outstanding and keeps great fusee time, last checked about +/- 1 or 2 minutes within approx. 24 hour period hanging from a hook in the vertical position…….. But cannot guarantee accuracy upon sale. These watches are verge type. Meant to keep time, not perfect time 235 years ago. Also special care must be taken not to overwind these old museum pieces. A group of 20 used antique / vintage open face and hunter pocket watch cases. For PARTS / REPAIR / SCRAP. From a watch repairman’s estate. The cases are presumed gold filled or gold plated; although a few have lost almost all the plate on the outside and. Appear as just brass. Ten of the cases have marks that I recognize as gold filled (such as’WARRANTED, 20 YEARS’). These 10 cases have a gross weight of 255 grams. The other cases have markings like an Indian head, dear head, etc. That I do not know what they stand for. The total gross weight of ALL the cases is 730 grams. Two of the hunter case are designed for key wind movements. I measured the inside diameter of what I thought was about the smallest to the largest case and got. 1.1″ to 1.76″; presumed approximately 3/0 to 18 size for American watches. Please note that some of the cases are MISSING the bezel / crystal / stem / sleeve / bow and are dirty. In good condition; although a some do have dents / light corrosion / heavy scratches and severe brassing on some.
