Uncleaned, fresh from a local estate. Condition as shown in the pics. This unit does not seem to run, but I’m also not sure how to even wind it. Case is very difficult to open the back.

Vintage American Waltham Watch Co. 16s hunter pocket watch with a good quality Model 1888 Riverside 17 jewel movement. The movement has an estimated production date of 1896 -1899. It has a beautiful gold filled coin edge hunter case marked Fahys 14K Monarch on the inside surface of the dust cover. This watch looks great overall with a few minor signs of age age prior use including a very light patina in a section of the outer track on the dial and a very small fine scratch on the dial between the 11 and 12 positions. There is a small notch (see photo) on the edge of the inside dust cover that looks like someone probably performed a gold test at some point. There is also a light impression on the top edge of the back cover from the bow. The movement has been running and keeping time for over 24 hours but is approximately 2 minutes slow and will need to be serviced for accuracy.

CIRCA 1921 RUNNING WALTHAM POCKET WATCH. Movement Serial Number:24041473. VERY UNIQUE NEAR FINE FANCY DIAL. RARE FAHYS MONARCH CASE NEAR MINT FACTORY TAG INTACT. All sources identity MONARCH Cases as being Gold Filled. I believe this case to be Nickel but have been unable to identify ir find another example. Research indicates FAHYS Watch Cases Co. Went out of business during the Great Depression. Best guess this case was manufacturered shortly before company closed doors permanently.. Regardless the case and dial compliment each other. Overall a beautiful watch, and a unique piece of 1920′s Americana and the shifting styles and attitudes as seen in Post WW1 America. Watch winds sets and runs, but has not been checked for accuracy…

Up for consideration is a nice Vintage Antique 34mm Silver Levco Swiss 16 Jewel Pocket Watch BWC Co Monarch Case. Watch is in great physical condition for age, normal/light wear, see photos.. Watch measures 34mm across. Watch sets/adjusts as it should, runs intermittently, sometimes for seconds, minutes, and sometimes for hours. I’m guessing it just needs a cleaning and has been sitting for some time. My standard listing lingo, please read in its entirety. Any defects not mentioned in the description but are visible in the photos are deemed to have been disclosed. It is not intentional.
