Rolex 15 Jewel, sterling silver mens half hunter pocket watch with silver Albert chain and box. 50cm across the case. The case by Dennison, model “Special”. Sterling silver hallmarked Birmingham 1926. In very good condition, some slight marks commensurate with age, no major scratches, some minor marks and minor dings, several jewellers marks inside covers. Engine turned pattern to front and rear, coin edged, vacant cartouche to center of rear cover. The front cover pops open with a depression of the crown, as it should. Front and rear covers open to 90 degrees. All hinges are good. Roman Numerals around front window match the main dial. Mineral glass front window and main crystal in perfect condition. The dial is bright and clean, has 2 hairline cracks , no chips. Black Arabic numerals, blued steel hands. Signed “Rolex Lever” “Swiss Made”15 jewel movement, subtle damascened. Clean and bright, fully serviced, inspected and tested. Fully serviced including modern alloy “unbreakable” mainspring. Comes with a fitted velvet pocket watch case and a silver cleaning cloth. Complete with solid 925 silver heavy gauge, 7mm Albert chain with antique stone set spinner fob. The chain is a modern production by Time Pocket Watches and Hallmarked 925 silver on T bar and clip. The fob is marked Sterling Silver Birmingham 1912. 46 grams in weight. Presented in a fitted, velvet pocket watch box with brass trim and a velvet pouch for the chain. Another top piece, great for wedding, graduation, retirement, Christmas, Fathers day or birthday present. Popular choice as a gift to the groom from the bride. Accidental damage cover is not provided. This is in addition to any statutory rights you have. Servicing is defined as the piece being disassembled, cleaned, inspected and adjusted if necessary. It is then re-assembled and correctly oiled, timed for accuracy and adjusted if required. The mainspring will be replaced and the piece will be bench-tested for at least one day. I restore all of my watches to a fully working condition. It is my aim to provide a watch that is not only running but working to a usable state. My watches can be worn and used for their intended purpose on a daily basis. The time keeping should certainly be within +- 5 minuted per 24 hours but I aim for +-3 or better. Antique Solid Silver Cased Waltham Half Hunter Riverside Pocket Watch. Antique Solid Silver Cased Waltham Half Hunter Riverside Gentlemans Pocket Watch. This is a splendid antique side winder solid silver cased Waltham Riverside Half Hunter Gentlemans pocket watch. Birmingham assay office hallmarks for 1888. High quality 15 jewels Waltham Riverside movement with lever escapement and split bi-metal balance wheel with timing screws, breguet overcoil hairspring, Fog Tadpole regulator. This movement is very rare as the run quantity was only 500. The watch is in full working order and has just been serviced by my watch repairer and is keep very good time. Crown wind and lever set. To set the time you must pull out the lever on the side of the watch and then turn the crown wind to turn the hands and push the lever back in again. The case is in very good condition for its age as can be seen in the pictures The lids all shut nice and tight and all the hinges are in good condition. The front lid has blue Roman numerals around the front lens so the time could be seen without opening the front lid. The front lid will spring open by pushing down the crown wind showing that the front case opening mechanism is working perfectly. Vacant cartouche on the back lid and nice handsome bow. Silver case maker A. AB (Alfred Bedford) was the manager of the Waltham Watch Co, Holborn Circus, London. Near mint condition white enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals and minute markers around the outside of the dial and with sunken subsidiary second dial. Original blue steel spade hands and as new acrylic crystal. October 1890 – February 1891. Key, Lever, or Pin/Lever. 1954 Waltham “Gray Book” List. The watch is 50 mm in diameter and weighs 115 grams. Gentleman’s original Antique Waltham U. A, 7 jewel’Traveler’ pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial and a highly polished, 9 carat (tested) rose gold filled (has a lovely soft pink hue to it and is what is known in the UK as rolled gold) original Dennison half hunter case (with Fire Brigade inscription) which has the rarer dark blue Roman numerals to front cover. Looks to have been much loved and very well cared for and its condition certainly reflects this. Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper (within +2/-2 minute per 24 hours) with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic – a timepiece to grace any collection! Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, pale ivory (almost white) porcelain dial in mint condition – absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles. Signed clearly in black very fancy script; Waltham. Bold black Roman numerals with black minute markers, bolder, black five minute markers and bold triangular shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Recessed sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Original, finely cut, bright blued steel double spade and whip hands (so allowing for easy time check through the front cover) and original blued steel, arrow tip seconds hand all in straight order. Original hunter glass (not acrylic) in clear and bright condition with no scratches or marks. Original slightly domed outer crystal in amazingly clear and bright order. The highly polished (5cm diameter /7cm from top of bow to base), 9 carat (tested) rose gold filled, original Dennison case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is a heavy 107.5 grams), robust and in superb condition – absolutely no wear (again looks to have been very well cared for plus please excuse the reflections in the pictures – was very difficult to photograph) one very tiny indentation to back cover which as so small is only visible if caught in the right light (so superficial not showing up in the photographs but mentioning for accuracy) and just overall extremely light and fine little micro surface scratches showing under eyeglass (usually caused by carrying the watch in a pocket with loose coins and other heavy objects jangling around) commensurate with age and use in her 115 years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The front cover carries the rarer dark blue Roman numerals (they are more commonly black) and the enamel work is in superb condition with no chips or fading to either the numbers or the inner and outer chapter rings. Numbered to the inside (very slightly rubbed); 930180. The back cover and dust cover both open to exactly 90 degrees, closing tightly and all three large hinges are true and firm with absolutely no play. The inside of the back cover is clearly stamped; STAR (the Dennison’Star’ cases where always 9ct gold filled), DENNISON WATCH CASE Co LTD Aaron Lufkin Dennison – one of the founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Company who moved from the U. A to England to establish the Dennison case factory, they made cases for all the leading watch manufacturers of the era including Rolex and Omega and is again numbered; 930180. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the back case cuvette;0180. The dust cover carries a wonderful inscription. The inside of the dust cover is clearly stamped; ENGLISH MAKE THIS CASE GUARANTEED TO WEAR 10 YEARS (again the’10 year’ Dennison cases where always 9ct gold filled) and is numbered; 930180 28 O – the O is the first letter of the surname of the Goldsmith at the Dennison factory who pinned the case joints, unfortunately on this occasion I have been unable to identify him. Interestingly I can find no old service marks to the inside of either of the covers which again leads me to think this watch has had very little use. The Waltham stem wound and set, 7 ruby jewelled, 3/4 fire gilt plate’Traveler’, lever movement (Size; 16, Model; 1899, Grade; Traveler) is in superb order (tiny bit of age patina showing under eyeglass only to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers as to be expected) and has just been checked and serviced. Has a compensated bi-metal balance wheel (did not want to stop for the camera showing the balance spring is in perfect beat) with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), original bright blued steel overcoil balance spring which is true and’in the round’ and’breathing’ correctly, bright blued steel movement screws, ruby end stone in a screwed in chaton setting, ruby pallet jewels, beautifully and heavily engraved balance cock, micro whip regulator (which as mentioned earlier is sat correctly in the central position), attractive’swirl’ engine turning to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and original matching, highly polished steel case screws. Stamped clearly on the top plate in arched fancy script; American Waltham, U. TRAVELER and is numbered; 13290343 – dating her to 1904. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the bottom plate (under the dial); 290343. Balance action is excellent in all positions (could not be any better) and is keeping good time with a sure, strong positive action. Winds extremely smoothly and fully do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth! Hand set operates smoothly and correctly – the pull up/push down action is very firm and true. Lovely rose gold filled, totally un-worn large’onion’ crown. Original, gold filled, firm, very slightly worn Dennison safety bow (tiny bit of wear to top underside only from being carried on a watch chain over the years), which is correctly stamped to one side; DQ – Dennison Quality. A very handsome and highly impressive Antique Waltham timepiece which has been much loved and very well cared for – she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations. HALF HUNTER PAIR CASED VERGE FUSEE Pocket Watch. Recently fully serviced and in great working condition! Runs the full length of the chain with a hard sounding tick and keeping very well verge time I noticed almost no deviation per 24 hours runtime – WOW!!!! The movement shines like it was made yesterday, is signed “Mt Drayton” from Arkinstall and bears the serial number 4154. Nice old blue steel hands. All covers open and close with a tight fit as it should. Enamel dial with roman numerals in a splendid condition! Both cases have indentical hallmarks for London, year 1832.
