Waltham model 1857 Wm. Ellery key wind pocket watch. Serial #114710 manufactured Mar-Apr 1864. Features a heavy coin silver full hunter case. Case has no spring. Watch is running, but is a bit sluggish. Could probably use a servicing. Serviced: This watch was just serviced (all parts removed, cleaned, new unbreakable mainspring, oiled, and adjusted to keep very good time). Movement : This watch is running very good and keeping great time! The movement is a very nice P. S Bartlett Grade key wind with a 11 jewel movement, big beautiful jewels, the original balance wheel, and a beautiful gilt movement. This movement looks amazing!! Dial : The original dial is in very good condition. Case : The gold filled Ladd case is in very nice condition. This is one of the best Ladd cases I have seen. This case looks like it was used very little. I only see brass on the bow (from chain). The watch has a very nice glass crystal. This case is not original to this movement. This is an antique Howard N size keywind pocket watch. The movement is gilt, jeweled, and has EARLY serial number 4585. The watch runs strong, but has not been cleaned or serviced in years. So, I cannot guarantee it to be a reliable timekeeper. The dial is good, with a couple of faint small hairlines that hard difficult to see without a magnifier. The case is not the original Howard case. It is a keywind hunter case, coin silver, 18 size, with good case springs and hinges. The case is a 3 ounce size, and is in very good condition with normal signs of use. You can decide whether to carry it in this case, or find a correct case for it. A key is included. This is an early four digit E. Howard in its original numbers matching coin case. It is difficult to find these early Howards in the case they left the factory in. Non running, bad staff, hairspring looks bent. The hands don’t look to be original. The case is in great condition, tight hinges, no dents. The item “E. Very unique pocket watch from early in the Civil War. This American Watch Co. (Later American Waltham) William Ellery model was manufactured in 1862 and is a model 1857. The dial is in very good condition for its age. The case is coin silver, full Hunter, glass crystal, hinged bezel. All hinges work properly and the lids snap closed. The hair spring stud is not attached and the hairspring needs to be replaced. Chain with what I believe is the original key is included. Estimated Production Year: 1862. Total Production: 521,689.
