Omega Pocket Watch Chronograph, Calliber 19 Grade D. Gun metal case 1908. Antique 1908 Omega pocket watch. The watch has a stem-winding Omega movement which is ticking away and the time keeping is good to around 1 – 2 minutes over 24 hours. The watch measures 55 mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The gun metal case is signed Omega and has the serial number 3059431 which dates the watch to 1908. The case has light surface marking and pitting from use and a dent to the back but overall it is in nice condition for its age. The watch lens is glass and is in nice condition. The watch has its original hands. The watch has a beautiful damaskeening inside. The term “damaskeening” or “damascening” refers to the technique of decorating or embellishing the plates or bridges of the watch movement with beautiful and intricate engine-applied patterns. While the origin of the term “damaskeening” is unclear, it may be a reference to the swirling patterns found in Damascus steel. Damaskeening is a term that was unique to the American watch industry.
