1890s Illinois Bunn Special railroad pocket watch, hunter case, rare 18-size with 24 jewels. Beautiful and working perfectly. Heres a special one. And its all there: from famed Bunn Special movement to gin-clear crystal, pristine double-sunk porcelain face, pendant-set movement, and the beautiful gold-filled original hunter case. Just a wonderful watch in all ways. Made in the 1890s (Model 5, serial number 1357047), this fine historical watch is still working perfectly. Best of all, its 18-size and 24-jewels make it rare and desirable. The case does have a few tiny scratches and dings (like any vintage or antique railroad watch, please see the photos). But overall, it is indeed one sweet example, with stunning, fully-marked damasked movement, inset with ruby jewels. Push the stem and the gorgeous engraved hunter case opens crisply, revealing the near flawless face, Arabic numerals, Victorian spade hands, and the seconds sub-dial. 18 Size, Illinois, “Bunn”, 17 Jewel Pocket Watch. Running [not checked for accuracy]. This “Bunn” has my favorite damasking pattern of all the Illinois “Bunn” type, Pocket Watches. A truly beautiful movement in a truly beautiful Case. The Case is a “Stag” Engraved, Screw Back & Bezel, Keystone, Gold Filled Case. Back & Bezel in Beautiful Shape, though the edge of the body is worn & showing brass [doesn't show up in the pic's]. It’s difficult to show Gold Fill Cases without a lot of reflection, so the pic’s are “stepped down” so as to show the engraved detail. In’person, the Case is a Bright Yellow Gold Color. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocketwatch. Very nicely finished railroad grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and 2-tone gold circular pattern damaskeen. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial and is housed in a gold-filled hunting case recase that has a small house scene engraved on its rear. Movement serial number is 1381584 which dates this watch to about 1897. Running and a nice looking movement with good 2-tone color. Barrel bridge has a small spot at its left perimeter edge. Dial has a fracture at its lower right corner of the inner chapter with this small triangular shaped corner segment lifting a bit out of level, and dial has some scattered faint hairlines elsewhere.
