Illinois 18s Bunn Special RR 21J 2-tone Original 4oz Coin Silver Running Great! A fine 21 jewel railroad timepiece. This watch is running strong after a full service in 2021 and keeping good time. The 2-Tone is strong and the plates are beautifully damaskeened. The case appears to be original to the movement and is 4oz coin silver by Keystone. The covered open and close as they should. The case shows moderate wear. The watch runs strong and the lever-set / stem wound movement functions as new. Excellent balance amplitude and nice and flat. The original porcelain dial is very good but does have a small chip at 12:00 that is covered by the bezel. I also note a very fine hairline between 5 and 6. Overall, the watch presents very well. 1951 Hamilton Railway Special 21J 16S Monty Dial Pocket Watch 2-Tone Case SERVICED! Beautiful 2- Tone Hamilton Railway Special Pocket Watch, Crown & Stem Winds, Lever Sets running strong and keeps Excellent time, a Stellar pocket watch to add to your collection, nice clean 992B 21 jewels, Model 5, 16 size. Has a beautiful double sunk Railway Special Montgomery dial, no chips and no hairlines, the dial does show little grazing in the sub dial and in front of the 11, which is normal wear for this dial and year, excellent Bold Black Spade and whip Steel hands, new thick glass crystal. Housed in an excellent near mint 2-Tone Case, Model 3, the center is10K Gold Filled and Silver Base metal front and back, made by Wadsworth for Hamilton. The case is showing very light minimal pocket scratches. All the covers close smoothly seal tight. Has great Hamilton Railroad Crown and a great bow. Fully serviced on 6/17/22. Special Railway 23J HC. 18 size 23 jewel hunting case lever-set Special Railway pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Beautiful high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a spectacular fancy 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish. Fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial. Serial number is 1268005. Running but balance motion is quite sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen a servicing in many years. Absolutely beautiful movement with superb 2-tone color and luster. Dial has an outer chapter hairline between 3 and 4 O’clock, a light hairline above its seconds-register, an extremely faint hairline below its seconds-register at 28 minutes, and some small edge flakes near 30 minutes. Bunn Special 2-Tone HC. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. Very nicely finished high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and a 2-tone gold circular damaskeen pattern. This example is currently in need of some attention but is a great candidate for restoration as its movement 2-tone color remains beautiful. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial. Serial number is 1356953. Mainspring seems likely broken of slipped, and balance is gummy. Very nice looking movement overall with superb 2-tone color, though the regulator assembly and the visible movement screw heads have oxide. One case screw is missing. Dial is beautiful with just a few very mild flaws – a small flake tight to the left edge of the center section, an extremely faint hairline above the seconds-register, and a few scattered small surface scratches or nicks. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Grade 941 Special pocket watch movement/dial/hands. A rare and beautiful movement featuring a terrific 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish and marked “Special” to its barrel bridge, this example is notable for the superb preservation of its 2-tone color. Watch is fronted by a double-sunk enamel dial with script Hamilton Watch Co. Running but balance motion is sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn’t seen any type of servicing in quite some time. Absolutely beautiful movement cosmetically with superb 2-tone color. Regulator assembly has some mild small bits of oxide, and barrel bridge has some marks to its inner perimeter adjacent the regulator adjustment screw. Dial faces up well though with some perimeter scrape between about the 43 minute and the 59 minute positions which was likely cased by the rubbing of a case bezel at one time. 18 size 21 jewel hunting case lever-set Bunn Special pocketwatch. Very nicely finished railroad grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, and 2-tone gold circular pattern damaskeen. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel Gothic numeral dial and is housed in a gold-filled hunting case recase that has a small house scene engraved on its rear. Movement serial number is 1381584 which dates this watch to about 1897. Running and a nice looking movement with good 2-tone color. Barrel bridge has a small spot at its left perimeter edge. Dial has a fracture at its lower right corner of the inner chapter with this small triangular shaped corner segment lifting a bit out of level, and dial has some scattered faint hairlines elsewhere. Absolutely beautiful movement with a scarce 2-tone damaskeen pattern that features a circular checkerboard pattern at the center, vertical stripes of checkerboard at the sides, and an attractive 2-tone pattern to the mainspring barrel cover. Movement is marked “Adjusted” and would have been railroad grade at its time of manufacture, and this movement is identified in Greg Frauenhoff’s Aurora Watch Co. Book as a Grade 8 with an estimated total production of 1620 made in the hunting case version. Watch is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial and is housed in a Philadelphia Watch Case Co. Movement serial number is 81499. Running and a beautiful movement with a superb bright 2-tone color and luster, likely the finest example I’ve ever seen for this particular damaskeen. One casescrew is nickel colored so a mismatch to the other blued movement screws. Dial is very nice with just some faint hairlines in the outer chapter. Hour and minute hands are different styles. Case front springs open a bit past 90 degrees but with a light touch continues to open further to a good ways past 90 degrees as seen in the side view photo, front latch hangs up on the bezel at times, neck of case has a small screw hole that is currently empty, and inner surface of outer case back and the cuvette both have some scratches.
