The watch features a sterling case housing an Elgin 17 model 5916 jewel movement. Star Watch Case Company, while not as renowned as Elgin, was a prominent case maker that often partnered with movement manufacturers like Elgin to create complete watches. This partnership allowed both companies to focus on their strengths, resulting in quality timepieces. The watch winds and keeps time, showcasing the enduring craftsmanship of both brands. The acrylic crystal does show some signs of wear consistent with age. The case is in decent condition with some very slight wear and discoloration and scratches and does has some nice edge engraving and rear cover engraving has wear. The case has a snap off bezel and a hinged rear cover. The crystal is decent and has some light scratches and is glass. With little work case is ready for a nice movement. Vintage Antique American Waltham 1893 Gold Fill Hunting Case Pocket Watch C3980. Here is an American Waltham gold filled O size pendant watch serial #5573388, made in 1893. The movement is a gold guilt 7 jewel model that looks really cool. The watch is 34.8 millimeters or about 1 5 /8 inches across the front of the watchcase. There is an art nouveau dove engraving on the back of the watchcase. The mechanical (winding type) watch winds, is fully wound, tries to run and stops so it does not run. It does continue to run when I put winding pressure on the winding stem telling me it can be fixed. I see moderate wear from use on the case and it does look pretty cool.. We sell these items as they are and as you see them with some dirt, minor marks or minor damage from use (as is). Please look over the pics.
