Title: Early Peoria Watch Co. 15j Hunting Case movement #8685 circa 1888 Description: The Peoria Watch Company was formed in 1885 and a factory facility was completed in 1886 to house the watch making equipment from the Fredonia Watch Company and production began in late 1886. This example is serial number 8685 and is a 15 jewel hunting case movements that has been recased some time in the past. The watch appears to have a broken balance staff and the dial has some hairlines. Due to not having a crystal the watch lost it’s hands during storage. Early Trenton 18 Size Antique Hunting Case Watch. This antique Trenton pocket watch is 18 size (case diameter 53 mm). This is a Model 2 made about 1890. The movement is 7 jewels and lever set. The dial is original and has several faint hairlines. The case is thin gold plate in pretty good shape outside as shown with a little brass showing but very little wear. The case lift spring does not work, so you have to open the front cover. This is an interesting and fairly scarce early American pocket watch. The balances swings and it seems power is running down the train. The watch comes with 2 keys, the silver key is to wind the watch while its in the case, the brass key is for setting the hands while in case. When the watch is out of the case the brass key can provide both functions. The case with the crystal in weighs 49.53grams. The movement weighs 55.13grams. Together they weigh 104.72grams. The case is 18k gold and the dial I presume is as well. The balance cock is solid gold and there is a diamond end jewel for the upper balance jewel. The chain is not good nor are the keys.
