McCarthy emigrated from Ireland to Iowa at age seventeen, he could not have imagined the impact he would have on the industry. Starting out as a water boy, he quickly advanced to stone-cutter, to foreman, then became the superintendent. In 1897, he founded the McCarthy Stone Company in Davenport, IA and incorporated as McCarthy Improvement Company on Feb. Five generations later, his family-run company is still committed to industry advancement. Born in Ireland on 1857 to Daniel McCarthy and Bridget Marne. Patrick McCarthy married Rose Ann Donahue and had 1 child. He passed away on 2 May 1928 in Winona, Winona, Minnesota. McCarthy House in Davenport, Iowa is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This watch is over 100 years old and not sure when the last service was done and may still need to be professionally cleaned/serviced in order to keep time accurately.
