This model was named after the the president of the company Jacob Bunn, a friend of President Abe Lincoln, Jacob Bunn had his main office in Chicago, reorganize Railroads help them raise financing. And was fanatical about new technology about accuracy. When the Bunn Special came out in the turn of the century it was a epitome of American watch making renowned around the world. This watch is over 92 years old serial number 5067542, circa 1928, type 3, model 14 16 size, 23 ruby jewels set with gold bushings, gold center wheel, 60 hours, adjusted to six wearing positions, and temperature. Stem winding and set with the lever after turning off crystal and bezel. Many times I have just watch this run in a glass dome wondering how something so beautifully and meticulously manufactured, could be made without CNC machines or modern day computers. The Two tone Especially made Bunn case has two plates of 14kt solid gold with a brass interior, think of it as an Oreo cookie. The inner brass gives it strength and keeps the price down but has the look of solid gold. This is a very good condition vintage Ball railroad watch. It is 16 size, open face, stem wind, lever set, 21 jewels, Model 1899, Official RR Standard, serial #260032 (Circa 1918). The movement is in good condition and runs strong. It has no signs of rust or over-cleaning. There are a few scratches on the movement plates, but that is all. The porcelain dial is good, with a couple of small, very faint hairlines at the edge. The Ball stirrup bow case is yellow gold filled, and in nice used condition. No monograms or dents. The slightest bit of wear at the edges in places, but it is not very much at all. A very nice, high grade Ball railroad grade watch for the collector, or to carry daily.
